Microbrews and homegrown breweries are taking North Carolina by storm, and the small town of Southport has its own brewery to explore, called Check Six Brewing Company. Family owned and operated, and named after a directional position that’s used by the army, navy, and coast guard, this local brewery gives Southport vacationers a chance to relax after a long day of exploring, and enjoy a hearty pour of something both local and new.
Check Six Brewery is a fairly new addition to the Cape Fear brewing scene, but they’re already expanding their arsenal of hand-crafted ales and brews on tap. New patrons can expect to find an ever-changing array of beers, which can typically include a double IPA, an Imperial porter, a cream ale, a Coconut Hefeweizen, a blonde ale, an American IPA, an Irish stout, a brown ale, and many more varieties. New patrons who can’t make up their mind can opt for a flight, and can taste a variety of brews in smaller, 4oz. pours. With regular events including team trivia nights, live music, and karaoke night, and lots of room to relax at the bar or at sunny pub tables, Check Six Brewing Company will be a favorite hang-out for Southport locals and visitors alike.
