All bedrooms are decorated with simplicity and comfort in mind. Both bathrooms provide walk-in showers with hand-held shower head in. the master, please note the master bathroom is on the smaller side but the shared bathroom is very enormous. An outdoor shower on the back deck (with hot water) is ideal for rinsing off the sand after a long day at the beach! The laundry room with W/D help you keep things fresh from arrival through departure.

Stunning oak trees shade the yard so it is enchanting to sit out in the swing (or lay out in the hammock) even on hot sunny days, while our elegant fire pit accepts you to appreciate the outdoors even on cool nights. String lights surround the back deck and create the ideal ambience after sunset. ***She Shed in the yard is no longer be available for guests***

DOGGIE DETAILS: Oak Island is well-known not only for being a family-aligned beach but also one of the most dog-friendly beaches in North Carolina. Dogs that are leashed are allowed YEAR ROUND on Oak Island beaches, and dogs are allowed off their leash from October 15 through March 15. Oak Island also offers two different dog parks for your furry friends to enjoy, one that is only a few blocks away from the home.

ISLE OF DOGS welcomes up to 4 dogs. We do not discriminate based on breed or size, but due to the size of our bungalow, we are unable to accommodate more than 2 XL-breed dogs (100+ pounds) per booking. All dogs must be housebroken and up-to-date on shots and must be crated when left in the home unattended (exceptions to crate requirement may be made by host on a case by case situation). Crates and food/water bowls are supplied for your convenience (please contact the host to ensure crate sizes will work for your dogs). We are unable to accommodate animals other than dogs at this time. If you are bringing 4 dogs please note that we will limit the human occupancy to 4 people as we want to ensure that our bungalow does not feel too crowed for our guests.
***The non-returnable pet fee is $100 per visit for the first 2 dogs and $25 for each additional dog (up to 4 total). Please note that the pet fee will be charged after the booking is approved (if not paid during booking) and must be paid before check-in.***

We are proud to allow dogs on furnishings, so all guests (even if not bringing a dog) must bring their own linens (sheets, pillow cases and quilt/duvet). If you prefer not to bring your own linens, we can connect you with a local company (Sharon's Linens in Oak Island) that will deliver linens to your door upon arrival. We provide bath towels (for both people and dogs), bath mats, toilet paper, soap and hair dryer. Guests should bring their own shampoo, conditioner, other toiletries and beach towels.

NEARBY RESTAURANTS AND ATTRACTIONS: Climb to the top of a lighthouse. Kayak through salt marshes, waterways, creeks and inlets. Explore the ecosystems of a cypress swamp. Watch in awe as sea turtle hatchlings make their journey to the ocean.

There is never a shortage of fun and memorable things to see and do when you visit the beaches and maritime towns of the Brunswick Islands. No matter what you choose to do – by water, land or sky – these impressive attractions will have you and your family appreciating every min. of your stay.

Oak Island is located at the "mouth" of Cape Fear River which is the reason for our dark blue water. As a south facing beach Oak Island has spectacular sunsets because the sun sets on the ocean or the beach and sometimes if there is ocean spray or rougher seas it illuminates the sunsets making it striking.

Strategies to get the best rental home experience:

Finding the best value:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Southport restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many property management companies supply Southport area visitors guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Choose dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Walk 2 Beach\/Fully Fenced Yard has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
