About this Property

Work or do school remotely with secure reliable WiFi powered by 1-Gig fiber internet.

1-Gig fiber optic Internet via an Orbi mesh WiFi router system delivers reliable hi-speed WiFi throughout the home so you can stay connected. Parents can work remotely and children can participate in distance learning with plenty of bandwidth for everybody.

The main living room has a 70-inch TV and the 2nd floor living room has a 65-inch TV. All 8 bedrooms have flat screen HD TVs. Most of the TVs are Intelligent TVs. The elevator goes from the ground level to the top floor (not the case in all homes with elevators). There are ceiling fans throughout the home, and the completely supplied kitchen includes quartz countertops and a double oven.

The home has 8 bedrooms (including 4 Kings), 6 1/2 baths, and can sleep 20 in beds. It has a reverse floor plan, so the kitchen, living room and main master bedroom are on the top (3rd) floor and have great vistas. The home has a private pool on-site, which we heat for our spring and fall visitors at no additional charge. The dual, heated outdoor shower is convenient for rinsing off after returning from the beach, and the shower outdoor space is made from Poly-Wood so you don’t have to worry about splinters.

This fabulous home is a 3-min. walk from the public beach access. It is located on the fetching west end of Sea Isle Beach (fewer homes than the east end = less busy beach). It is at the end of the paved section of West 2nd Street, so it is safe for children with very little traffic. With undeveloped land on 3 sides, you'll have ridiculous, unobstructed vistas of the sea and sound from the wrap-around decks on each level.

With four King bedrooms, this home works great for enormous, multi-generational family gatherings and vacations with multiple families. We have also hosted many church retreats and corporate retreats.

We will give a full refund for any cancellations due to government imposed travel restrictions.

What to Come with: A complete linen package is supplied for all of our visitors, and everything is freshly laundered each week. We do not give beach towels or other beach gear. However, you can pack a little lighter, as we give an all-terrain Radio Flyer wagon, beach cart, and rolling cooler for transporting children, beach chairs, and beverages to and from the beach.

Conveniences: The home has a private pool which can be heated in the spring and fall at no additional charge. The pool area has resort grade furnishings, including reclining lounge chairs for sunbathing, as well as two tables and non-reclining chairs for pool-side dining.

There is a full-sized refrigerator on the ground level to keep your pool drinks cold. We give a number of pool toys and floats for the children. The outdoor shower includes two shower heads each with hot and cold water, as well as Poly-wood decking (no splinters).

The sizable kitchen is well supplied with service for 20. It is supplied with stainless steel appliances, including a smooth-top 5-burner stove, double oven, microwave, toaster oven, 2 coffee makers, Keurig, Ninja blender, dishwasher, and French-door refrigerator/freezer with ice maker and filtered water. There are plenty of pots, pans, casserole dishes, mixing bowls, muffin pans, etc. Several visitors have commented that this kitchen is better outfitted than theirs at home.

We give all of the basics: dish soap, dishwasher detergent, coffee filters, etc., and a starter supply of K-cups.

The home is also supplied with a stackable washer and dryer, as well as an iron and ironing board. There is a clothes line in the carport for hanging wet beach towels and bathing suits. Laundry detergent, fabric softener and dryer sheets are all included.

Recreation: Of course, the main attraction is the beach but there are also many great golf courses within 15 mins. (and over 100 courses within a 20-mile radius of OIB). Our home also has its own private pool which we heat for our spring and fall visitors at no additional charge. On the island, there is a miniature golf course and tennis courts. You can also rent bicycles or charter a fishing trip. The Museum of Coastal Carolina is located on the island. The OIB Unit Owners Association sponsors a concert series every Friday evening during the summer at the new Sea Isle Town Park in the center of the island.

Just off the island, you can find go-cart racing and more miniature golf. Silver Coast Winery is only 15 mins. from the island and offers tours and tastings. Myrtle Beach is only 45 mins. away and has everything from water parks to outlet malls to the NASCAR Speedpark. It is also home to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, a Class A minor league baseball team affiliated with the Chicago Cubs.

We are at the end of a lightly traveled street, so bicycle riding is a safe activity. Inside, there are toys and board games and a Sony PlayStation4 with mostly E-reviewed games.

Eateries: There are a number of eateries on the island, and more on the mainland. We do have a few favorites. For dinner, Roberto's, just off the island, is one of our favorites. The Bang-Bang Shrimp makes a great appetizer. The fish is always new and the pasta dishes are hard to beat. The pizza is so good we often have them prepare extras that we freeze and bring home. Roberto's also has a full bar.

Calabash, the 'Seafood Capital of the World,' is only 6 miles from OIB. For dinner, we appreciate The Boundary House. Capt. Nance's and Ella's both offer the typical fried fish, shrimp and hush puppies that made Calabash famed.

For breakfast, we like Castaways which is just off the island next to Tsunami Surf Shop, but it's modest so it doesn't work well for sizable groups. Our other favorite is the Purple Onion Cafe in Shallotte which has giant pancakes, blueberry biscuits and unreal raspberry cream cheese croissants. If you need a caffeine fix, Drift Coffee Bar is on the island near the museum and OIB Surf and Java is just off the island in the Lowes Foods shopping center.

The OIB Fish Company has a rooftop Tiki Bar and is on the island just before the bridge. The Sugar Shack is highly regarded for its Jamaican cuisine, but call ahead because it is usually busy.

Note - There are security cameras covering the driveway and front porch. There are no cameras indoors or with a view into the outdoor shower or pool.

Money-saving Tips

  • Find the official tourism bureau in the area you wish to travel. Many tourism bureaus will send you printed travel guides with savings for rental homes, restaurants and tours. These guides may provide a good start to your rental search.
  • Are you willing to modify your trip dates? The off-peak shoulder seasons will offer you incredible rates on rentals.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Military may be able to get price reductions. Be sure to check with property owner to see if your travelling crew is eligible for a discounted rate.
  • Some homes are primarily designed for particular types of guests. Large event homes are great for weddings, wedding parties and corporate meetings. Some homes appeal to beach bums. Other properties are situated close to night life. You'll get the best value from a home that most thoroughly satisfies your ideal vacation setting, even if it costs a tad bit more.
  • Rental companies and individual rental owners typically offer clients the chance to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally add anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base rental rate, provides visitors reimbursement of their trip expenses for any nights missed a result of health-related emergencies or hurricanes, and additionally ensuing extra hurricane evacuation costs or charges, like an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel. Trip insurance can be a bank account-saver if the unforseen occurs (heaven forbid!).

General Rental Home Information

Newcomers are sometimes surprised at the range and variety of short term vacation rentals available in the Southport area. Vacation home accommodations have gained in popularity with the rise of essential search sites like Homeaway and VRBO.

Vacation rentals are often owner operated or managed by property management companies. For owners not directly engaged in the management of their rental home, management companies are critical in assisting guests with making reservations, check-in, house cleaning, and any routine maintenance issues that may occur.

Here are some tips and suggestions to help you understand the vacation rental search and reservation process.

How to find and reserve the right vacation rental:

Before you decide to book "8 Bedrooms, 7 Baths, Sleeps 20, Free Linens, Private Heated Pool, Elevator", go through our brief checklist of points to consider.

The Earlier, The Better

Southport rental properties start booking early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended, when possible. Many families plan to start their search during Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Eve holiday gatherings.

Find your Spot and Confirm Dates

Sometimes, the hardest portion of planning your vacation is deciding on where to search, and when. After the big decisions are tackled, the rest becomes easier.

Just How Much Rental home Do You Need?

How many relatives are joining your vacation? Be aware that a lot of properties advertise maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in the family room. You will need to determine what is most appropriate for your party. Most rental listings will summarize each one of the unit's specific bedrooms and beds.

Make a Budget

Make sure "8 Bedrooms, 7 Baths, Sleeps 20, Free Linens, Private Heated Pool, Elevator" satisfies your price range *during your desired dates*. If multiple groups or loved ones are sharing the cost, be certain that each group knows their responsibilities and has approved a maximum they are prepared to chip in. Normally, one person in the group will be responsible for making the full reservation and collecting each party's share.

Make a List of "Preferences" and "Requirements"

What amenities is your family searching for? Is a swimming pool mandatory?Do you want a vacation property with patio lounge? Will the property need to be beachfront, downtown, or in close proximity to wildlife? Are extras like beach chairs, grills, umbrellas, buggies or coolers available and included in your rental property rate? Make a list of prioritized "necessities and preferences" from your party to help filter your search to the perfect home.

Accessability

Occasionally the senior generation has challenges with staircases. If wheel chair access, elevators, pool lifts or other special devices are necessary, factor that into your search. Nearly all rental postings will include a list of amenities.

Your Dog Needs a Vacation, Too

Make sure to include your furry family members. Animals are welcome at many rental properties, but policies differ. Many restrictions might eliminate a potential vacation property. Make sure that you study descriptions and contracts carefully. Extra charges may apply when animals are included. If in doubt, ask the property manager and get it in writing.

The best places to Search

Many websites exist to match guests with rental home owners.. In combination with Homeaway, VRBO and Tripadvisor, we suggest searching Google for "Southport local vacation homes" for local vacation rental management companies. Aside from offering exceptional properties, local agencies offer superb service..

Negotiate

When you have found the rentalhome of your dreams, double check to make sure your vacation dates are available.

Although not true for all rental homes, many property owners and property managers will negotiate rates. If they are hesitant to budge on a peak-season week, try asking for an additional night. Negotiating rates is most effective through the off-season when many rental homes sit empty.

Study the Total Contract

You should know which services are included:

  • Electric bills
  • Internet Connectivity
  • Long Distance Calls
  • Pool Heating
  • Pay Per View Movies
  • Daily Cleaning (If Available)
  • Trash Pickup (and which day?)
  • Maintenance policies
  • Check in & Check Out Key Exchange
  • Parking requirements

In addition to the regular charge, guests have to pay local taxes when booking "8 Bedrooms, 7 Baths, Sleeps 20, Free Linens, Private Heated Pool, Elevator", in addition to any other fees which might be required based upon their situation, including an animal fee, earlier check-in or later check-out fee, or a pool heater fee for private pool usage during the autumn or spring months.

Trip Insurance

Ensure that you are familiar with the cancellation policy prior to booking. You will probably be offered trip insurance. Trip insurance protects the renter against emergency situations and weather events, It provides relief should disaster strike.

Complete the Reservation

When you feel you've found "the one", start the booking process. You will probably need to submit a security deposit at time of booking.

Keep Your Property Manager's Info

Put the property manager's contact info into your smart phone and wallet for easy access to answers throughout your trip.

Good job on booking your rental home! You're on the way to a phenomenal vacation!

During your Stay

  • Take notes of any wear and tear soon after you arrive. If you find problems, or if repairs are required contact the property manager straight away. This can protect against disputes during check out.
  • Ask questions. You could need guidance for a fireplace, Television set or spa tub. Call your rental manager. They are there to assist. A phone call can save hours of trouble.
  • Make sure to be a good next-door neighbor. Permanent residents often times live within earshot. Respecting late-night quiet hours and vehicle parking rules can make a vacation a little more pleasant.
  • Ask a local. Residents are a terrific source of recommendations. Who better to ask where to get the best chicken wings, have a great date night, or the best places for shopping?
  • Make sure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the vacation home locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.

Leaving Paradise

  • Make sure that you've packed everything. Check drawers, bath cupboards and wardrobes.
  • Make a point to walk through the rental home one last time and check for damages. If possible, do this walk-out assessment with the property owner present. If the property owner is not available, you'll want to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • How do you feel about your stay? Virtually all rental sites request feedback after your stay . Rental owners and rental managers will appreciate your glowing recommendations. If something went wrong, we advise being pleasant but honest with regards to stay. Top owners and managers will work hard to correct the problem.

Iterate

Hold a meeting with your traveling companions. Did they feel about the rental choice? If everything was wonderful, next year's trip planning is going to be relatively easy. Otherwise, you've acquired invaluable rental search experience that can help with your next search.

Victory Beach Vacations

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
