Tips to Save Money on your Rental

  • Find the tourism bureau in the area you wish to travel. Most official tourism bureaus will offer you tourism guide books with promotions for vacation rentals, dining and activities. These guides provide a great start to your rental search.
  • Just want to stay away from the crowds? Off-season rates are usually a fraction of maximum fees.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Military may be eligible for discounted rates. Make sure to check with property manager to see if your travelling gang qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Some rental homes are practically catered to particular guests, whether it's beachfront units with weekly pier passes, city-center condos with close access to night life or waterfront homes that have private jetski launching areas. You will definitely get the most value from a rental which most thoroughly matches your ideal vacation setting, even if it costs a little more.
  • Management companies and individual rental home owners frequently offer clients an opportunity to obtain trip insurance coverage. Trip insurance, which usually costs somewhere between 1% - 5% of the base term price, offers guests reimbursement of their vacation expenses for any days missed due to health-related emergencies or storms, and additionally ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, like an unforeseen motel stay or additional fuel.

General Vacation Rental Advice

Some people are shocked to discover just how many properties are located in their area of interest. Vacation home accommodations have gained in popularity with the rise of online search sites like Homeaway and VRBO.

The vast majority of rental homes in Southport are privately operated and many are represented by established local property management companies. Property management companies leverage scale, technology and experience to provide effortless operational administration on behalf of the homeowner..

Below are some tips and tricks to help you navigate the vacation rental search and reservation process.

Searching for and booking the right rental:

Do you think "A 3 Bedroom Triplex (bottom unit) Only a Few Blocks to the Beach!" is the best rental property for your next vacation? Look over this guide to make sure it fits your needs.

Begin Your Search Early

Southport vacation rentals book months (and up to a year) in advance. To get the best selection, begin your planning and search 6-Twelve months in advance of your trip. Holiday reunions are a popular time for family groups to plan their Summer vacations..

Find your Spot and Determine Dates

Sometimes, the toughest portion of planning your vacation is deciding where to go, and when. As soon as the big decisions are resolved, the rest is much easier.

Exactly How Much Rental Do You Actually Need?

Take a head count. How many beds and bedrooms will you need? Remember that most vacation rentals advertise maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in the living room space. It is important to figure out what is acceptable for the family. Precise descriptions of bedrooms and beds are typically accessible online. If not, email or call the property owner before you book.

Determine Your Budget

Most rental homes are marketed with a cost range. Determine the price for your desired stay. It may be at the top end of the range. If a few groups or loved ones are sharing the cost, check to make sure each group knows their responsibilities and has approved a maximum they are prepared to pay. Most rental documents require a single individual to be in charge of the entire reservation.

Vacation home Features

What home features is the group looking for? Is a swimming pool reallynecessary? Are you looking for a vacation property with outdoor lounge? Are you more interested in wildlife or night life? Are items like beach chairs, grills, beach umbrellas, beach carts or coolers at your disposal and included in your rental property rate? Build a list of priority features to facilitate filter your search.

Special Things to consider

Sometimes the senior generation has trouble with stairs. If wheel chair access, elevators, pool lifts or other special devices are needed, factor that into your search. Nearly all vacation rental listings include a list of amenities.

Your Puppy Deserves a Holiday, Too

Make sure you include your pets. Pets are welcome at many rental properties, but policies can vary. Study your contract very carefully! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your contract. When in doubt, ask the property manager and get it in writing.

The best places to Search

. In combination with Homeaway, VRBO and Tripadvisor, we advise searching Google for "Southport local vacation rentals" for local rental management companies. Aside from offering exclusive rental properties, local companies offer you outstanding service..

Negotiate the Price

When you have spotted your dream rental, double check to make sure your travel dates are available.

Although not true for all properties, many owners and property managers will make a deal on rates. If they are unwilling to budge on a peak-season trip, try getting an additional night. Off-peak season offers your best opportunity to negotiate a lower rate.

Read the Entire Agreement

Learn which of the following is included in your quoted rate:

  • Utility bills
  • Internet
  • Long Distance Calls
  • Hot Tub Heating
  • Cable and pay-per-view TV
  • Cleaning Fees
  • Trash collection
  • Maintenance (get a phone number)
  • Check in & Check Out Key Exchange
  • Parking Fees

In addition to the regular price, guests will need to pay state taxes when renting "A 3 Bedroom Triplex (bottom unit) Only a Few Blocks to the Beach!", in addition to any other fees that may be mandatory depending on their situation, including a dog charge, early check-in or later check-out fee, or a pool heating fee for private pool usage during the autumn or spring months.

Cancellation Policies

Cancellation policies vary for each vacation rental. Vacation rental management companies and home owners often offer their clients the choice to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of your base rental home rate, provides guests with reimbursement of their vacation costs (and subsequent rental costs) for any nights missed a result of personal health care emergencies or storms, as well as hurricane evacuation expenses, such as a unexpected hotel stay or additional gas.

Complete the Booking

When everything seems correct, it's finally time to sign a rental agreement. Do not forget that most rental contracts will require a substantial rental deposit and/or security deposit to protect the home owner.

Get Contact Information

Don't forget to get the manager's contact phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We suggest keeping the contact's details in your cell phone and wallet.

Congrats on booking your vacation rental! You're on the way to a wonderful vacation!

During your Stay

  • Take pictures at your arrival. Take notes of any wear and tear immediately after you arrive. If you find damage, or if repairs are required contact the property manager straight away. If there is a difference of opinion about responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts should be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You could need instructions for a gas fireplace, Television set or hot tub. Get in touch with your home manager. They are there to help. A phone call can save hours of difficulties.
  • Please be considerate of the neighborhood. Residents invariably live within earshot. Respecting late-night quiet hours and vehicle parking regulations can make a vacation substantially more relaxing.
  • Ask a local. Residents may point you in the right direction.
  • Make sure that you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the home secured while you are away, exactly like you would at home.

At the end of your stay

  • Clean up a lttle bit. Regardless of whether you're having to pay a housekeeping fee, The vacation home is required to be in good shape. Sinks full of pots and pans, surplus sand on the floors and sticky messes should really be taken care of before leaving.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental home one last time and check for damage. We recommend walking through with the rental manager whenever feasible (this may not be possible).. If the property owner is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • How do you feel about your stay? Just about all property management companies and rental websites allow customers to provide feedback. If the rental and/or property manager was great, they'll appreciate your positive reviews. If something was unacceptable and they failed to fix it in a practical manner, or when the vacation rental was not as described, you'll want to note that in your review.

Learn and Improve

Hold a vacation recap meeting with the members of your group. Did everyone have a great time? Hopefully everything was outstanding and you're ready to reserve the rental home for next year. If not, you have acquired invaluable rental search experience that can help with another search.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
