Tips to get the perfect Southport rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Summer months are high season in the Southport area. Booking in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
  • The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Southport area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and picking your prefectvacation home:

  • To start, have your group decide on vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. \"Ocean Kiss\" - Oceanfront Home, 6 Bedrooms \/ 4 Bathrooms has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or might be applied to your invoice.

Know before you go:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
