This vacation rental accepts one dog per reservation.

Tucked beneath impressive live oak trees, Island Hideaway provides a comfortable coastal getaway ideal for you and your four-legged friend. You're just a half mile away from two public beach accesses (SE 49th and SE 52nd Streets). Approximately .6 miles away is the NE 55th Street Municipal Boat Ramp, where you can launch a kayak or fishing boat.

As you walk into the front door, the living room greets you on the right with comfortable furnishings gathered around the flat screen TV. Off to the left you will find the dining room table with seating for six. The kitchen is finished with stainless steel appliances and welcoming blue cabinets.

Down the hall you will find a twin bunk bedroom ideal for the little ones. Across the hall is the shared bathroom to the queen bedroom with a flat screen TV.

The master bedroom sits in the back left of the home and features a queen bed and private bathroom.

Just off the kitchen and dining area, a screened porch provides a great spot to savor the island breeze. The porch leads into a backyard getaway ideal for calming after a fun day on the beach. Eat dinner or grab a drink for the outdoor dining area on the patio or light up the fire pit while your dog runs around the fenced in yard.

There is ample guest parking available in the driveway. This home is right down the street from plenty of shopping and local eateries as well as Publix so you can grab all of your vacation needs. Down the street towards the Intracoastal Waterway you will find the Oak Island Nature Center and Malcom Register Park roughly 0.6 miles away. Take a snack and sit under the cabana while you watch the boats sail by or drop a fishing line in the water to catch your own dinner! The Oak Island Nature Center features a tree trail, butterfly garden, floating dock, and fishing tee.

Please note the backyard shed is not available for guest use.

Booking the best Southport rental home experience:

When to reserve a Southport rental home & When to go:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To book the largest rental within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Southport restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local tours and attractions.

Make a plan and pick your prefectrental home:

  • First, have your group decide on a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Island Hideaway: Dog-friendly home right near Publix and the Oak Island Nature C has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If not, email the host before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation family.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
