Booking the best rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Summer time is high season in the Southport area. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies supply Southport area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the perfect rental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Large & Spacious Oceanfront House w\/Free WiFi, Private W\/D, Central AC, Patio has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
