How to find the best Southport vacation property experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Southport area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your Southport rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning and choosing yourvacation home:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Quiet neighborhood 5 blocks to beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
