Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Oak Island rental experience:

When to book a Southport rental & When to go:

  • In the Southport area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • To get the best value, try shifting your family's Southport vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental in the Southport area:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Starboard Side: Lovely Beach Home with Private Deck-top Pool, Easy Beach Access has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before booking the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is best for your family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
