Location! Location! Location! Welcome to our luxury beach home, North Star. Located directly across from public beach access Periwinkle, with beautiful ocean vistas and only a short walk to the Carolina Beach Pier and Freeman Park. Appreciate the ease of beachfront living complete with beach essentials (beach wagon, umbrellas, body boards, toys, and more!) AND private outdoor shower to rinse off after a day in the sun.

The Space:

The interior features bamboo floors and tile throughout. The gorgeous kitchen is complete with limestone countertops, bespoke cabinetry, Viking appliances, and counter seating with four stools. The kitchen comes completely supplied with everything you need to prepare and entertain. From serving platters, cookware, a pancake griddle, and tableware for toddlers and modest kids, North Star has it all. An additional wine bar includes a Viking wine/drink refrigerator and blender and all drinking water in our home is filtered through a reverse osmosis filtration system!

The handsome open concept living room features high ceilings, a 70” TV with Roku, a surround sound system, and ample seating. Sit down for meals in the dining room with a huge table and chairs to seat 8. Surrounded by windows that overlook the ocean. A balcony off the living area overlooks the ocean and includes a table and chairs for four to appreciate breakfast, lunch, or just to read a good book to the sight and sound of the waves crashing.

Off of the kitchen is a screened in porch with a dining table that seats six. Savor playing cards, doing puzzles, or sharing a meal outdoors out of the sun, with the ocean breeze passing by!

Continue through the screened in porch to walk up the lit stairway, to behold the crown jewel of this home – the rooftop deck! Freshly installed WearDeck composite decking that deflects heat and keeps feet from splinters makes this a joy to lounge on. Chaise lounge chairs, as well as other chairs make for a comfortable spot to savor the vista. Take dinner up to dine at the bar with a granite countertop, or relax with some lemonade, chips and salsa in the afternoon. For early risers, you won't want to miss taking in the sunrise from the rooftop! Or turn on the speakers that pipe in music from the living room sound system onto the rooftop and play your favorite tunes as you watch the sunset over the canal in the evening.

The Primary bedroom ensuite features huge windows with impressive ocean vistas, a king bed, black out curtains, ceiling fan, balcony with rocking chairs overlooking the ocean, sizable bathroom with rain shower and side jets, alarm clock with USB ports, and TV with Roku. How to find the best vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer is high season in Carolina Beach. To find the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to choose the best vacation rental in the Southport area:

  • To start, have your group agree to a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Ocean Views + Rooftop! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Advice for a great stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
