Our top Southport rental home booking tips:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Ocean Isle Beach. To get the most suitable vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitor guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First, have your family select the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. New Oceanfront Luxury Home - Groups and Events welcome has 10 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your group.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. text the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
