About this Property

"Sand Dollar Suites" suite 3 is managed by Dale and Salt Water Real Estate and may be just the home away from home you are looking for! "Sand Dollar Suites" suite 3 is a 2nd story two-bedroom appealing condo that's just steps from our sandy shores, a brief walk to downtown CB, and all the sea sights, sounds, and experiences you are looking for!

The space;

Pleasure Island has become a RAPIDLY increasing holiday destination for the entirety of the East coast and beyond for many reasons. Because we are in fact a true island, “overcrowding” isn’t in of itself a giant issue. Limited parking and available housing will always create a peaceful “max capacity” that will always give a comfortable (and healthy) occupancy level and mood that, despite the “hordes”, will always leave generous complimentary space for those looking for a bit more “distancing” and privacy. It’s also what is making the real unit market shoot through the roof! It’s an AMAZING place to visit, live, and never leave!

The suite is located in the heart of Carolina Beach and walking distance to downtown and everything that is has to offer. In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, eateries, and local stores of all kinds. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or event boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing? Come with the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier compete with bait, tackles, and more! The Carolina Beach Lake is close by, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday, FIREWORKS every Thursday, and outdoor summer movies on Sunday’s. We welcome you to sit back, relax and savor yourselves because that's exactly what the beach is for! * (due to Covid, please be prepared for periodic deviations from our usually scheduled events).

These suites are a mixture of the original “period” construction and old-world grace, a kiss of shabby-chic modernity, and today’s technology because hey, there’s got to be something for everybody! Each suite has its own distinct traits, quirks, and characteristics. Above all else, it should feel like your “home away from home” while visiting with us on our Island!

The entry to this 2 bedroom/1 bath suite opens up into a enormous, freshly decorated family room combined with an open dining area and entirely supplied kitchen (stove+oven, refrigerator). The kitchen is supplied will all of the basic preparing and dining silverware one can expect (plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc.). In addition, there is a microwave, toaster, coffer maker and blender ready to help make yourself at home. Courtesy organic soap and shampoo are left in the bathroom of each suite as well as a (1) starter roll of TP, a (1) garbage bag, dish soap, and a sponge in each kitchen. *It is important to note that it is NOT an owner’s job to give personal family items for visitors. From toiletries and linens, to community food stuffs and condiments, It is ESPECIALLY important during this current climate for any used items of another to be discarded before our new visitors arrive to ensure an optimally hygienic space

There's ONE QUEEN/ONE FULL+ TWIN bunk bed here that consists of a new encased 8” memory foam/cooling gel composition bed because we want all of our visitors to be calming when it comes time to recharge. Remember, linens are NOT supplied in order to keep our prices low. You can bring them from home with you, buy them locally, or rent them (refer to Low Tide Linens & Units). If renting, please let Low Tide know that you are a guest of SWRE as they will give you with an additional 10% discount!

There is a 50” Roku Intelligent WIFI TV’s (with approx. 25 channels through the Charter Spectrum cable application) along with a WIFI computer connection for when it's time to sit back and appreciate some movies or shows after a long day at the beach! Come with a Fire Stick, Apple TV, Laptop w/ HDMI cable or other such casting device if looking to ensure all of the tech amenities from home are available during your stay!

We equip each suite with its own books, games, and misc. accessories to help cover the basis for our visitors to enjoy themselves in rain or shine. Sometimes however, these items are removed from the suite and not replaced and we do not realize it (tsk tsk!). If you notice something we’ve bragged about missing please let us know!

Guest access;

The SUITE: Guests have full access to their own private SUITE (never shared) along with a respective outdoor space, patio, or balcony.

PARKING: Suites 1,2 and 3 will have access to (1) ONE parking space in the front of the home. Oversized cars may have a difficult time (lengthwise) parking without being very close to or slightly extending into the street. Any additional community parking spaces would have availability on a first come fist serve basis. We do not recommend any lot or proprietor in particular.

Neighborhood overview

Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. Pleasure Island is located within Federal Point Township, in New Hanover County. The coastal resort towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as the annexed communities of Wilmington Beach and Hanby Beach are located on the island.

The building itself is one row away from the sea, and two rows in from the Intracoastal Waterway. The unit is set four blocks from down town Carolina Beach with its stores, activities and dining. There are fireworks during the summer every Thursday nighttime, Movies at the lake each Sunday nighttime, and local fairs around the lake each Saturday morning. Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and visitors all looking to hideaway the inland and enjoy the sand, surf, and sun.

Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are (but not limited to) a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. Perhaps more inviting and less “experience” is your speed? Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered!

Getting around

There isn’t anywhere or anything on our Island that isn’t accessible with foot power. Downtown Carolina Beach has a number of vendors (such as Pleasure Island Units @ 2 N Lake Park Blvd Carolina Beach NC 28428 (golf carts) and Tony Silvagni’s Surf School @ 107 Charlotte ave Carolina Beach NC 28428 (bicycles, paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks) for rent as an alternative to walking or driving. Taxi’s (local golf cart taxi’s) and Uber’s are also generally available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island! You can catch a Ferry to Southport in Kure Beach @ 2422 Fort Fisher Blvd S Kure Beach which leads to another ferry to Bald Head Island where NO CARS are allowed at all!

After all, you won’t catch many locals going OTB! (Over The Bridge). Everything you need is right here!

Other things to note;

•Salt Water Real Estate has partnered with the absolute most striking vendors our Island has to offer to help ensure visitors can spend more time relishing themselves and less time researching! Our partners include the Tony Silvagni Surf School for professional surf lessons, bicycle, umbrella, and chair units, Salty Dog Yoga, Squared Away Cleaning and Maintenance, TNL Kleans, and Low Tide Linen Units who provides all visitors of SWRE an added 10% off. Our partners support visitors of Salt Water Real Estate with the highest caliber of local services for extremely competitive and oft discounted pricing. They all contribute to the “Salt Water” experience and we <3 them for it!

•ALL suites are non-smoking (including vaping) and a heavy cleaning/repair charge can result if not adhered to. This includes porches, decks, balconies, and walkways. Please smoke well away from any SWRE unit unless willing to risk the potential loss of deposit or more.

•Linens (sheets, towels, pillowcases, etc.) are NOT part of the suite rental. Pillows and basic comforters ARE included. Please refer to the linens chart supplied in the renting site description section for a unit’s bed sizes and plan in advance accordingly. We partner with “Low Tide Linens & Units” for any visitors looking to rent a linen package as opposed to bringing or buying your own. They will deliver directly into the suite in advance of your stay! Mention that you are staying with SALT WATER REAL ESTATE and receive an additional 10% off of any rentable items!

• SWRE contractual peaceful hours begin at 9:00pm EST. Town ordinance may accept more latitude with regards to noise (11:00pm) but our expectations are to help ensure all visitors, locals, and neighbors alike have an delightful experience.

•NO BBQing on ANY decks or porches. This is a gargantuan fire hazard and is fineable by the town (as is removing batteries from any smoke or co2 alarms). We work extremely hard to keep all of our visitors safe, and sometimes that takes teamwork!

•Please always consider TRAVEL INSURANCE from your respective renting site or vendor to help protect your costs in case of inclement weather or last-min. travel complications (court, illness, etc.). These items are NOT returnable scenarios unless the unit itself is compromised. If that does happen, we will do our absolute best to find you alternative housing.

Money Saving Strategies

  • Find the official tourism bureau where you want to travel. Most established tourism bureaus supply promotional guides with special deals for property management companies, dining and activities. These guides provide a good start to your rental home search.
  • Are the trip dates flexible? Off-peak times offer up sizable markdowns.
  • Several management companies and owners offer price reductions for active and veteran men and women of the Armed forces, or returning guests of the same rental home. Make sure to check with property manager to see if your vacationing crew is eligible for a discounted rate.
  • Is there a particular experience you are mainly longing for during your stay? You should prioritize your proximity to the family activities and landmarks you are most excited about.
  • Consider obtaining trip insurance along with your rental contract. Trip insurance, which generally add between 1% - 5% of the base stay cost, provides vacationers reimbursement of their trip costs for any missed due to personal medical related emergencies or weather, in addition to ensuing extra hurricane evacuation costs or expenses, like an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforseen happens (heaven forbid!).

The Rental Process

Some people are shocked to discover the number of vacation homes are offered in their area of interest. With such a big selection, clients are certain to come across a rental home that suits their desires and price range.

Rental homes are usually owner operated or managed by property management companies. For owners not directly engaged in the management of their vacation home, management companies are critical in helping families with booking, checking-in, housekeeping services, and any maintenance issues that may occur.

Below are some tips and methods to help you navigate the vacation home search and booking process.

Finding and booking the perfect rental home:

Do you believe ""Sand Dollar Suites" suite 3" is the perfect vacation property for your upcoming visit? Read this guide to ensure it fits your preferences.

The Earlier, The Better

Southport vacation rentals book months (and up to a year) in advance. For the greatest selection, begin your planning and search Six-Twelve months before your vacation. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years are excellent times to find and reserve your vacation home..

Settle on your Town and Vacation Week

Oftentimes, the toughest part of organizing your trip is choosing where to search, and when. Once the big decisions are resolved, everything else will be simplier and easier.

Choosing an Appropriately-Sized Vacation rental

Determine who is joining, and just how many/what type of bedroom configuration you will need. Keep in mind that many rental homes list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in the living area. You'll need to determine what is suitable for the party. Specific descriptions of bedrooms and beds are typically available on the internet. If not, communicate with the property owner before you book.

Exactly What Are You Willing to Pay?

Will your selected rental fit your budget during that prime Summer week? If multiple individuals or families are sharing the cost, check that everybody understands their obligations and has approved a maximum they are prepared to chip in. Usually, a single member of the group will be in charge of making the complete reservation and getting each person's contribution.

Property Features

What amenities is the family searching for? Do you want a rental home with patio lounge? Are you more enthusiastic about wildlife or night life? Are items like beach chairs, gas grills, beach umbrellas, beach carts or coolers available and included in your rental home payment? Gather a list of prioritized "needs and preferences" from your company to help narrow your search to the most appropriate home.

Accessibility and Special Issues

Elderly family members will thank you for not renting a stairs-access-only property on the 3rd floor. Ensure that you remember and ask about wheelchair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs..

Your Dog Needs a Holiday, Too

Make sure to include your furrry friends. Even though a number of rentals allow dogs, guidelines and fees vary per property. Many restrictions could dismiss a potential rental property. Read your agreement thoroughly! Fees may apply when animals are included. If in doubt, ask the property manager and get it in writing.

Start your Search

. In addition to Homeaway, VRBO and Tripadvisor, we recommend searching Google for "Southport local vacation rentals" for local vacation rental management companies. Local property management companies pride themselves on a top-quality vacation experience.

Negotiate

Re-read the description to ensure the rental has everything you need. If lacking, the home management company might know of very similar homes that suit your wishes and budget..

Some property owners will negotiate prices, and some won't. If the rate isn't negotiable, the number of nights might be. The off-season offers your best opportunity to make a deal for a reduced rate.

Study the Contract

Read the entire contract and be sure you understand who is liable for:

  • Utilities
  • Internet
  • Phone service
  • Pool Heating
  • Pay Per View Movies
  • Housekeeping
  • Trash Pickup (and which day?)
  • Maintenance (get a phone number)
  • Key exchange
  • Parking Space

Be sure that your price includes all taxes and fees.

What is the Cancellation Policy?

Ensure that you understand the cancellation policy prior to reserving. You'll likely be offered trip insurance. Trip insurance guards the renter against emergency situations and weather events, It gives you peace of mind should tragedy strike.

Complete the Booking

When everything seems correct, it's finally time for you to sign on the dotted line. Bear in mind that most rental agreements will require a considerable rental deposit and/or security deposit to safeguard the property owner.

Where to Get Help

Make sure to get the manager's contact telephone number and entry/exit procedures for your vacation property. We suggest storing the contact's details in your smart phone and wallet.

Congratulations! All that is left is making the most of your vacation!

During your Stay

  • Record the overall condition of the rental property right away. We also advise promptly phoning the property manager with a report of any damages, together with your request for any required fixes. This will protect against disagreements during checkout.
  • You might need guidance for a gas fireplace, Television or jacuzzi. Get in touch with your home manager. They are there to help. A quick phone call avoids many head aches.
  • Be considerate of the neighborhood. Residents will probably be as friendly to you as you are respectful of them. Remember the golden rule and treat others the same way you'd like to be treated by visitors next to your home.
  • Ask a local. Residents are a great source of advice. Who better to ask where to get the best chicken wings, have a great date night, or the best areas for shopping?
  • Make sure that you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the property secured when you are away, just like you would in your own home.

Checking Out

  • Double-check every space of the rental home to ensure that you've gathered all valuables.
  • Once everything is out, begin a walk-through of the property to make sure that no property damage occurred during your remain. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible (often this isn't possible).. If the property manager is not available, make sure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • How was your vacation? Virtually all vacation rental sites seek reviews after your stay is complete. Rental owners and rental managers will thank you for favorable critiques. If anything went wrong, we suggest being understanding but straightforward with regards to stay. Top property owners and managers will work very hard to fix the issue.

Use Your Experience

Did they feel about the rental? If everything was fantastic, next year's vacation planning is going to be relatively easy. Maybe the rental home was not perfect, and you will better understand how to perfect your search for the next vacation.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
