About this Property
"Sand Dollar Suites" suite 3 managed by Dale and Salt Water Real Estate may be just the home away from home you are looking for! "Sand Dollar Suites" are a collection of one- and two-bedroom peaceful condo's that are a walk from our sandy shores, a brief walk to downtown CB, and all the sea sights, sounds, and experiences you are looking for!
Pleasure Island (Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Fort Fisher) has become a RAPIDLY increasing holiday (and full-time!) destination for the East coast and beyond for many reasons. Because we are in fact a true island, our "max. capacity" and restricted parking options will always limit the number of visitors who can both rent on and visit our Island simultaneously! Although always relative, this provides a bit more elbow room and open space than average for those looking for more “distancing” and privacy than some bigger public beaches. It’s a family-aligned beach with a touch of everything one might be looking for! It’s an AMAZING place to visit, live, and never leave!
The suite is in the heart of Carolina Beach and walking distance to downtown and everything that is has to offer. In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, eateries, and local stores of all kinds. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or event boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing? Come with the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier compete with bait, tackles, and more! The Carolina Beach Lake is close by, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday, FIREWORKS every Thursday, and outdoor summer movies on Sunday’s (on a sizable inflatable screen in the middle of the lake!). We welcome you to sit back, relax and savor yourselves because that's exactly what the beach is for! * (due to Covid, please be prepared for periodic deviations from our usually scheduled events).
These suites are a mixture of the original “period” construction and old-world grace, a kiss of shabby-chic modernity, and today’s technology because hey, there’s got to be something for everybody! Each suite has its own distinct traits, quirks, and characteristics. Above all else, it should feel like your “home away from home” while visiting with us on our Island!
The entry to this 2 bedroom, 1 bath suite opens into a freshly decorated family room combined with an open dining area and entirely supplied kitchen (stove oven, refrigerator). The kitchen is supplied will all the basic preparing and dining silverware one can expect (plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc.). In addition, there is a microwave, toaster, coffer maker and blender ready to help make yourself at home (while on Vacay!). Courtesy organic soap and shampoo are left in the bathroom of each suite as well as a (1) starter roll of TP, a (1) garbage bag, dish soap, and a sponge in each kitchen. *It is important to note that it is NOT an owner’s job to give personal family items for visitors. From toiletries and linens, to community food stuffs and condiments it is ESPECIALLY important during this current climate for any used items of another to be discarded before our new visitors arrive to ensure an optimally hygienic space
The unit's ONE QUEEN bed and ONE TWIN over FULL bunk consists of either a plush extravagance bed or a new encased 8” memory foam/cooling gel composition bed because we want all of our visitors to be appealing when it comes time to recharge. Remember, linens are NOT included to keep your costs low. You can bring them from home with you, buy them locally, or rent them (refer to Oceanside Linens & Units).
There is one intelligent TV in each suite to utilize one's personal subscriptions (such as Netflix or Hulu) along with a WIFI computer connection for when it's time to sit back and appreciate some movies or shows after a long day at the beach! Come with a Fire Stick, Apple TV, Laptop w/ HDMI cable or another such casting device if looking to ensure all the tech amenities from home are available during your stay!
We equip each suite with its own combination of books, games, and misc. accessories to help cover the basis for our visitors to enjoy themselves in rain or shine. Sometimes however, these items are removed from the suite and not replaced, and we do not always realize it (tsk tsk!). If you notice something we’ve bragged about missing please let us know!
The outdoor shower is located on the lower left of the building to help get that sand off of those toes!
The SUITE: Guests have full access to their own private SUITE (never shared) along with a portion of a respective outdoor space, patio, or balcony.
PARKING: Each guest will have access to (1) ONE 8'x14' assigned parking space. Suites 1-3 park up front next to the road while 4-6 park in the rear of the building. DO NOT double park if looking to avoid a tow. Guests driving "upsized cars" (from SUVs to pickups) may have issues fitting restfully. Any additional community parking spaces would have availability on a first come first serve basis. We do not recommend any local lot or proprietor.
Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. Pleasure Island is located within Federal Point Township, in New Hanover County. The coastal resort towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as the annexed communities of Wilmington Beach and Hanby Beach are located on the island. The building itself is one row away from the sea, and two rows in from the Intracoastal Waterway. The unit is set four blocks from downtown Carolina Beach with its stores, activities, and dining. There are fireworks during the summer every Thursday nighttime, Movies at the lake each Sunday nighttime, and local fairs around the lake each Saturday morning (refer to carolinabeach.org for additional info!).
Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and visitors all looking to hideaway the inland and enjoy the sand, surf, and sun. We really have an marvelous community! Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are (but not limited to) a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. This doesn’t even include the aweing scenery of Airlie Gardens, and our very own battleship (USS NC) in Wilmington! Perhaps more calming and less “experience” is your speed? Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered!
There isn’t anywhere or anything on our Island that isn’t accessible with foot power. Downtown Carolina Beach has numerous vendors such as Tony Silvagni’s Surf School @ 308 S Lake Park Blvd, Carolina Beach, NC 28428 (bicycles, paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks, chairs, and umbrellas) for rent as an alternative to walking or driving. There's Sun Fun Units @1204 N Lake Park Blvd Unit F Carolina Beach, NC 28428. Taxi’s (local golf cart taxi’s) and Uber’s are also generally available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island! You can catch a Ferry to Southport in Kure Beach @ 2422 Fort Fisher Blvd S Kure Beach which leads to another ferry to Bald Head Island where NO CARS are allowed at all!
After all, you won’t catch many locals going OTB! (Over The Bridge). Everything you need is right here!

•Linens (sheets, towels, floor towels, pillowcases, etc.) are NOT part of the suite rental. Pillows and basic comforters ARE supplied. Please refer to the linens chart supplied in the renting site description section for a unit’s bed sizes and plan accordingly. We partner with Oceanside Linens & Units for any visitors looking to rent a linen package as opposed to bringing or buying your own. They will deliver directly into the suite in advance of your stay!
• SWRE contractual peaceful hours begin at 9:00pm EST. Town ordinance may accept more latitude with regards to noise (11:00pm) but our expectations are to help ensure all visitors, locals, and neighbors alike have an enchanting experience.
•NO BBQing on ANY decks or porches. This is a gargantuan fire hazard and is fineable by the town (as is removing batteries from any smoke or co2 alarms). We work extremely hard to keep all our visitors safe, and sometimes that takes teamwork!
•Please always consider TRAVEL INSURANCE from your respective renting site or vendor to help protect your costs in case of inclement weather or last-min. travel complications (court, illness, etc.). These items are NOT returnable scenarios unless the unit itself is compromised. If that does happen, we will do our absolute most grand to find you alternative housing.
- Many property management companies and vacation properties supply Southport area promotional travel magazines which feature deals, either offered individually by vendors, or utilizing a partnership between the management company and the local business itself. How to Book a Vacation Home

Rental homes are gaining in popularity among vacationers, and visitors will find that the sheer number of rentals available allows them to find an suitable getaway to suit their Southport gang, from calm condominiums to giant event homes with several bedrooms.
Rental homes are commonly owner operated or managed by property management companies. Property management companies leverage scale, equipment and practical experience to provide effortless operational administration on behalf of the homeowner..
Seasoned Southport vacationers have identified a number of tips and tricks over the years with regards to renting rentals, however many novices will be delighted to learn that several "tricks" are in plain sight, if you understand where to look.
Finding and reserving the best rental home:
Before you book ""Sand Dollar Suites" suite 3", go through our short collection of points to consider.
Search Early and Often
Southport rental properties are reserved several months (and up to a year) in advance. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is usually recommended, when possible. Many groups choose to start their search during Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Eve gatherings.
Find your Spot and Decide Dates
Agreement can be tough among members of the family, but the moment this tricky part is finished everything will start to fall in place.
How Much Rental Do You Really Need?
Take a head count. How many beds and bedrooms will you be needing? Consider that most homes list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in the home's living room. You will need to determine what is most appropriate for the family. Precise descriptions of bedrooms and beds are usually accessible online. If not, get in touch with the property manager before you reserve the home.
Stick to a Budget
Will the chosen vacation property fit your budget during that choice Summer week? Make sure you get cost-sharing commitments from loved ones well before booking an expensive rental property. Generally speaking, just one member of the group will be in charge of making the whole reservation and collecting each person's share.
Make a List of "Wants" and "Necessities"
What amenities is your family searching for? Do you simply want a property with a pool, spa tub or volleyball court? Does the unit need to be beach front, in the downtown area, or close to restaurants? Are bed linens included with the rental contract, or do you need to provide your own? Gather a list of prioritized "necessities and wishes" from your group to help narrow your search to the most appropriate rental.
Grandparents will thank you for not renting a stairs-only condo on the 3rd floor. Make certain to remember and inquire about wheelchair accessibility, pool lifts and special equipment requirements..
Go ahead and Take the Dog
Do not forget to include your best friend! Dog guidelines are different at each rental. Study descriptions carefully. Study your agreement very carefully! Additional charges may apply when pets are included. Ask questions *prior to* you book!
It Is Time to Search
As soon as the area, dates and people are decided, search multiple resources for the greatest vacation rental selection. Together with Homeaway, VRBO and Tripadvisor, we suggest searching Google for "Southport local vacation homes" for local property management companies. Local companies generally have a unique selection of vacation homes daily and weekly.
Negotiate the Price
Re-read the description to be sure the vacation home has everything that you need. If something is missing, the property management company might know of comparable properties that suit your style and budget..
Although not true for all properties, many owners and property managers will make a deal on rates. If they are hesitant to budge on a highly-desirable stay, try getting an extra night. Your easiest prospects for a lower rate will be switching to an off-season week.
Read through the Entire Agreement
Find out which of the following is included in your quoted rate:
- WIFI Access
- Long Distance Calls
- Pool and hot tub heating
- Cable and pay-per-view TV
- Trash Pickup (and which day?)
- Maintenance policies
- Check in & Check Out Key Exchange
- Parking Space
In addition to the standard fee, vacationers will have to pay local taxes when booking ""Sand Dollar Suites" suite 3", along with any other fees which might be required depending on their situation, including an animal charge, earlier check-in or later check-out fee, or a pool heating fee for private swimming pool usage during the fall or spring months.
If you wish to Cancel
Make sure you be aware of the cancellation policy before reserving. Many rental property contracts include an option for trip insurance. Trip insurance guards the renter against emergencies and weather events, It offers reassurance should tragedy strike.
Complete the Reservation
When you believe you've found "the one", start the booking process. You'll likely have to submit a security deposit at time of reservation.
Keep Your Property Manager's Information
Put the rental manager's contact information into your smart phone and wallet for convenient access to answers throughout your stay.
Congratulations! All that is left is making the most of your visit!
During your Stay
- Take pictures at your arrival. Take notes of any damages right after you arrive. We also advise promptly getting in touch with the rental home manager with a report of any damage, along with your request for any needed fixes. This may prevent conflicts during checkout.
- You could need instructions for a gas fireplace, Television set or hot tub. Contact your rental manager. They are there to help. A quick phone call eliminates many head aches.
- Make sure to be a good neighbor. . Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more enjoyable.
- Ask a local. Locals are a fantastic source of recommendations.
- Enjoy your stay! Remember to protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental home locked up while you are away, just like you would in your own home.
- Double-check every room of the rental home to make certain you've collected all belongings.
- Make a point to walk through the rental home one last time and look for damage. If at all possible, do this walk-out assessment with the property owner present. If the property manager is not available, make certain you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- How was your getaway? Nearly all rental property websites request testimonials after your stay is complete. Rental owners and rental managers will thank you for positive critiques. If anything went wrong and they did not correct it in a acceptable manner, or when the rental was not as described, you should make it a point in your critique.
Learn from your Experience
Hold a vacation recap meeting with your family. Did they like the rental? If everything was outstanding, next year's vacation planning will be easy. If the rental home was not quite right, and you will better know how to perfect your search for the next trip.
