Kure Beach visitors who want to take a break from the sandy beaches can keep the outdoor entertainment and activities going at Joe Eakes Park. Located just a few blocks away from the oceanfront, and easy to reach for visitors staying throughout the coastal community, this cool park has a wealth of amenities for outdoor fans of all ages to shake off the sand and have some fun.
The park extends for several blocks off of 7thAvenue, and features baseball facilities, basketball courts, tennis courts, and a playground for the youngest visitors. In addition, there’s a special “dog park” on-site, where owners can let their dogs off the leash and meet and mingle with other furry visitors. The park also features a brand new 18-hole disc golf course, as well as bocce ball courts for something a little different. For easy midday snacks or family get-togethers, park patrons can also use the picnic area, which is available on a first come, first serve basis (as is the rest of the facilities.) With so many ways to have fun, active beach vacationers will find no shortage of ways to enjoy a sunny morning or afternoon off the shoreline of Kure Beach with a visit to Joe Eakes Park.
