Mlama Cafe is owned by two local couples, Matt Piccinin and LeeAnn Tluchowski and Tom and Kate Paredes. As childhood and lifelong friends, LeeAnn and Kate were always keen on establishing a business that would not only provide a healthier alternative, but also a place that would be an active part of the community they love and have enjoyed so immensely with their own families. Those two missions got further motivation when both Matt and Tom received cancer diagnoses in 2018 and, with the support of a wonderful community, have been able to return to good health. Thus the focus on health and the inspiration for the name, Mlama- a Hawaiian term meaning ‘to care for, protect, and preserve.' Our mission is to provide healthier options to our guests that are both delicious and sustainable. We look forward to sharing our passion with you.
