Where Shopping is Truly an Adventure
Who’s up for a treasure hunt? Located in the Market Street shopping district in Cape Fear just outside of Wilmington, NC,
Port City Peddler is a multi-vendor shop offering exquisite antiques, vintage housewares, furniture pieces and so much more.
Owner Kaye Hamm opened
Port City Peddler in October of 2017. “It kind of started accidentally, I wandered into a shop one day and they had booth space and I ended up renting a space. About a month later they told me they were closing down, so I called the landlord and asked if I could lease the building and next thing I knew I owned it,” remembered Hamm. “That was our first location, we are now at our third.”
“We are a vendor mall, everybody in here is in charge of their own space,” said Hamm. “There’s other vendor malls around, but we try to keep a healthy balance of nice high-end antiques and new home decor. We have a good balance of everything, the new and the old. You can find something new every day as people bring in new items for the shop. Every time you come in here, it’s different,” said Hamm.
Over the years Hamm and other vendors at the market have found unique, one-of-a-kind antiques. “Our vendors go to auctions, estate sales, and some go on the road picking items. Some have gone all the way to Illinois, wherever we can find things,” said Hamm. “We’ve had some pretty cool pieces, I’ve found everything from old wooden refrigerators to mid century modern things, we’ve got a gentleman’s room that’s like container decanters, walking canes, antique books and oil paintings.”
Port City Peddler is much more than an antique and home decor shop. They are the only elite dealer in Wilmington of Dixie Belle Paint and offer other paints as well including Amy Howard Art Home and Farmhouse Paint. Port City Peddler is a full design center which houses their paint lines as well as Re-Design with Prima, A Makers Studio and Maker’s woodUbend. They have chalk mineral paint, enamel, milk paint and LuxeLacquer. Other items include custom-made furniture such as dining and accent tables.
They carry fine english antiques, elegant glass, and vintage items such as Pyrex and Tupperware. We also have a ladies boutique, home decor, gifts, a year round christmas room and a country store which has rustic items, bottled drinks, vintage toys and old fashioned candy.
