Tricks and tips to get the best Southport rental experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Southport rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Wilmington. To book the largest vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Southport restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose your vacation week and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. 1\/2 Acre Fenced In Private Oasis has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you book your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
  • If there's a specific Southport attraction you love, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or applied to your invoice.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
