Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Southport area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectrental home:

  • Select vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Aqua Bella Upper - cute old school beach apartment in downtown CB has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is best for your trip.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
