Tricks and tips to get the very best rental home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental:

  • Start by selecting a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Bijou by the Sea has with everything you need for a wonderful island vacation! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, email the host before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
