Just steps to the beach through your own private walkway. The Mermaids Retreat is located roughly 15-20 walking distance to the pier and only about 5-10 mins. from the boardwalk. The condo features two bedrooms with one queen sized bed in the master bedroom and 2 twin sized beds in the second bedroom. Entirely equipped kitchen and washer & dryer available. Private parking.

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Carolina Beach. To book the best rental within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Southport restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself.   • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
