About this Property

"Sand Dollar Suites" suite 6 is managed by Dale and Salt Water Real Estate and may be just the home away from home you are looking for! "Sand Dollar Suites" suite 6 is a 3rd floor one-bedroom comfortable condo that's just steps from our sandy shores, a brief walk to downtown CB, and all the sea sights, sounds, and experiences you are looking for!

The space;

Pleasure Island has become a RAPIDLY increasing holiday destination for the entirety of the East coast and beyond for many reasons. Because we are in fact a true island, “overcrowding” isn’t in of itself a humongous issue. Limited parking and available housing will always create a inviting “max capacity” that will always give a appealing (and healthy) occupancy level and vibe that, despite the “hordes”, will always leave substantial complimentary space for those looking for a bit more “distancing” and privacy. It’s also what is making the real unit market shoot through the roof! It’s an AMAZING place to visit, live, and never leave!

The suite is located in the heart of Carolina Beach and walking distance to downtown and everything that is has to offer. In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, eateries, and local stores of all kinds. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or event boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing? Come with the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier compete with bait, tackles, and more! The Carolina Beach Lake is close by, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday, FIREWORKS every Thursday, and outdoor summer movies on Sunday’s. We welcome you to sit back, relax and savor yourselves because that's exactly what the beach is for! * (due to Covid, please be prepared for periodic deviations from our usually scheduled events).

These suites are a mixture of the original “period” construction and old-world charisma, a kiss of shabby-chic modernity, and today’s technology because hey, there’s got to be something for everybody! Each suite has its own distinct traits, quirks, and characteristics. Above all else, it should feel like your “home away from home” while visiting with us on our Island!

The entry to this 1 bedroom/1 bath suite opens up into a sizable, freshly decorated family room combined with an open dining area and entirely supplied kitchen (stove+oven, refrigerator). The kitchen is outfitted will all of the basic preparing and dining silverware one can expect (plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc.). In addition, there is a microwave, toaster, coffer maker and blender ready to help make yourself at home. Courtesy organic soap and shampoo are left in the bathroom of each suite as well as a (1) starter roll of TP, a (1) garbage bag, dish soap, and a sponge in each kitchen. *It is important to note that it is NOT an owner’s job to give personal family items for visitors. From toiletries and linens, to community food stuffs and condiments, It is ESPECIALLY important during this current climate for any used items of another to be discarded before our new visitors arrive to ensure an optimally hygienic space

There's ONE QUEEN/ ONE FULL pullout bed here that consists of a new encased 8” memory foam/cooling gel composition bed because we want all of our visitors to be appealing when it comes time to recharge. The pullout couches that can fit/support a memory foam pad are also accommodated with such! (Always bear in mind that a pullout couch/futon for a longer term tenant may/may not give just right support!) Remember, linens are NOT supplied in order to keep our costs low. You can bring them from home with you, buy them locally, or rent them (refer to Low Tide Linens & Units). If renting, please let Low Tide know that you are a guest of SWRE as they will give you with an additional 10% discount!

There is a 50” Roku Intelligent WIFI TV’s (with approx. 25 channels through the Charter Spectrum cable application) along with a WIFI computer connection for when it's time to sit back and appreciate some movies or shows after a long day at the beach! Come with a Fire Stick, Apple TV, Laptop w/ HDMI cable or other such casting device if looking to ensure all of the tech amenities from home are available during your stay!

We equip each suite with its own books, games, and misc. accessories to help cover the basis for our visitors to enjoy themselves in rain or shine. Sometimes however, these items are removed from the suite and not replaced and we do not realize it (tsk tsk!). If you notice something we’ve bragged about missing please let us know!

Guest access;

The SUITE: Guests have full access to their own private SUITE (never shared) along with a respective outdoor space, patio, or balcony.

PARKING: Each guest will have access to (1) ONE parking space in the rear of the home (suites 4, 5, and 6) As the tons are self-enforced, it is within a visitors right to have any car towed that is parked in their assigned space so please park ONLY in your respective spot. Any additional community parking spaces would have availability on a first come fist serve basis. We do not recommend any lot or proprietor in particular.

Neighborhood overview

Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. Pleasure Island is located within Federal Point Township, in New Hanover County. The coastal resort towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as the annexed communities of Wilmington Beach and Hanby Beach are located on the island.

The building itself is one row away from the sea, and two rows in from the Intracoastal Waterway. The unit is set four blocks from down town Carolina Beach with its stores, activities and dining. There are fireworks during the summer every Thursday nighttime, Movies at the lake each Sunday nighttime, and local fairs around the lake each Saturday morning. Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and visitors all looking to hideaway the inland and enjoy the sand, surf, and sun.

Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are (but not limited to) a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. Perhaps more peaceful and less “experience” is your speed? Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered!

Getting around

There isn’t anywhere or anything on our Island that isn’t accessible with foot power. Downtown Carolina Beach has a number of vendors (such as Pleasure Island Units @ 2 N Lake Park Blvd Carolina Beach NC 28428 (golf carts) and Tony Silvagni’s Surf School @ 107 Charlotte ave Carolina Beach NC 28428 (bicycles, paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks) for rent as an alternative to walking or driving. Taxi’s (local golf cart taxi’s) and Uber’s are also generally available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island! You can catch a Ferry to Southport in Kure Beach @ 2422 Fort Fisher Blvd S Kure Beach which leads to another ferry to Bald Head Island where NO CARS are allowed at all!

After all, you won’t catch many locals going OTB! (Over The Bridge). Everything you need is right here!

Other things to note;

•Salt Water Real Estate has partnered with the absolute most superb vendors our Island has to offer to help ensure visitors can spend more time savoring themselves and less time researching! Our partners include the Tony Silvagni Surf School for professional surf lessons, bicycle, umbrella, and chair units, Salty Dog Yoga, Squared Away Cleaning and Maintenance, TNL Kleans, and Low Tide Linen Units who provides all visitors of SWRE an added 10% off. Our partners support visitors of Salt Water Real Estate with the highest caliber of local services for extremely competitive and oft discounted pricing. They all contribute to the “Salt Water” experience and we <3 them for it!

•ALL suites are non-smoking (including vaping) and a heavy cleaning/repair charge can result if not adhered to. This includes porches, decks, balconies, and walkways. Please smoke well away from any SWRE unit unless willing to risk the potential loss of deposit or more.

•Linens (sheets, towels, pillowcases, etc.) are NOT part of the suite rental. Pillows and basic comforters ARE included. Please refer to the linens chart supplied in the renting site description section for a unit’s bed sizes and plan in advance accordingly. We partner with “Low Tide Linens & Units” for any visitors looking to rent a linen package as opposed to bringing or buying your own. They will deliver directly into the suite in advance of your stay! Mention that you are staying with SALT WATER REAL ESTATE and receive an additional 10% off of any rentable items!

• SWRE contractual peaceful hours begin at 9:00pm EST. Town ordinance may accept more latitude with regards to noise (11:00pm) but our expectations are to help ensure all visitors, locals, and neighbors alike have an delightful experience.

•NO BBQing on ANY decks or porches. This is a giant fire hazard and is fineable by the town (as is removing batteries from any smoke or co2 alarms). We work extremely hard to keep all of our visitors safe, and sometimes that takes teamwork!

•Please always consider TRAVEL INSURANCE from your respective renting site or vendor to help protect your costs in case of inclement weather or last-min. travel complications (court, illness, etc.). These items are NOT returnable scenarios unless the unit itself is compromised. If that does happen, we will do our absolute choice to find you alternative housing.

Money-saving Tips

  • Many property managers and vacation homes supply Southport area discount catalogs that feature offers, either offered independently by local companies, or utilizing a partnership between the property manager and the vendor itself. These guides can provide a good start to your rental home search.
  • In a position to modify your travel dates? The off-peak shoulder seasons typically offer incredible rates on rental accommodations.
  • Are you a military veteran? A number of rental companies offer price reductions to vets and active-duty forces. Be sure to confirm with property manager to see if your vacationing gang is eligible for a discount.
  • Some properties are particularly suited for particular groups of vacationers. Large event homes are great for weddings, receptions and corporate retreats. Some properties cater to beach bums. Other homes are situated close to nightlife. Be sure to prioritize your proximity to the outdoor activities and locations you are most looking forward to.
  • Think about obtaining trip insurance together with your leasing contract. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay rate, offers visitors reimbursement of their rental costs for any days missed a result of personal medical-related emergencies or hurricanes, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or expenses, such as an unplanned motel stay or additional gasoline.

The Rental Process

First-timers are sometimes shocked at the number and variety of daily, weekly and monthly rental properties available in the Southport area. Rental homes are gaining in popularity among vacationers, and visitors will find that the sheer number of properties available allows them to find an optimum getaway to accommodate their Southport family, from tranquil condominiums to grand event homes with several bedrooms.

Rentals are often owner operated or managed by rental management companies. Property management companies leverage scale, systems and knowledge to provide trouble-free operational administration on behalf of the property owner..

We've developed a brief guide to assist you in getting most out of your rental home experience.

Where to find and reserve the best rental home:

Do you think ""Sand Dollar Suites" suite 6" is the best rental property for your next trip? Browse through this guide to confirm it fits your preferences.

Search Early and Often

Southport vacation homes book months (and up to a year) in advance. To assure the most desirable choice of homes, we recommend searching and reserving your Southport getaway Six-12 months before your travel dates, whenever possible. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental home..

Select your Area and Travel Week

Begin by deciding which particular area of Southport you prefer to browse, and the approximate dates you'll be vacationing.

Bedrooms and Bed Sizes Matter

How many relatives are joining your trip? Try to remember that a lot of rental homes list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in the living room space. You will need to determine what is most appropriate for the party. Most vacation home listings will describe each one of the unit's specific bedrooms and mattress sizes.

Make a Spending Limit

Will your chosen rental home fit your budget during that choice Summer week? If a few individuals or families are sharing the cost, confirm that each party understands their responsibilities and has approved a maximum they are willing to chip in. Most rental contracts require a single individual to be responsible for the entire reservation.

Let's Talk Amenities

What home features is the group interested in? Do you just want a property with a pool, jacuzzi or volleyball court? Do you desire to be away from it all, or close to a city setting? Are linens included with the rental contract, or do you need to take your own? Create a list of priority features to facilitate narrow your search.

Accessability

Grandparents will appreciate you for not reserving a stairs-only condominium on the Third floor. If wheel chair entry, elevators, pool lifts or other special devices are required, factor that into your search. Nearly all vacation home postings will include a list of amenities.

Your Puppy Needs a Holiday, Too

Are you or other members of the party visiting with a four-legged friend? Even though many rentals permit pets, rules and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds can be restricted. Study your agreement carefully! Extra fees or deposits may be applied to your agreement.

Searching the Internet

. In combination with Homeaway, VRBO and Tripadvisor, we advise searching Google for "Southport local vacation rentals" for local vacation home management companies. Aside from having distinctive rental properties, local agencies provide you with top-notch service..

Negotiate the Price

When you have found your dream rental, check to confirm your trip dates are available.

Although not true for all properties, many rental owners and property managers will make a deal on rates. If the price isn't negotiable, the number of nights may be. Off-peak weeks will be negotiable more frequently than peak-season..

Study the Total Contract

It is advisable to know which services are included:

  • Power bills
  • Internet
  • Long Distance Phone Service
  • Pool and hot tub heating
  • Pay Per View Movies
  • Cleaning Fees
  • Trash Pickup (and which day?)
  • Maintenance (get a phone number)
  • Key exchange
  • Parking requirements

In addition to the standard fee, guests will have to pay local taxes when booking ""Sand Dollar Suites" suite 6", as well as any other additional fees which might be required depending on their circumstances, including a pet charge, early check-in or later check-out fee, or a pool heating fee for private swimming pool usage during the fall or spring months.

If you need to Cancel

Make sure you be aware of the cancellation policy before reserving. Many rental property agreements include an option for trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs ranges from 1% - 5% of your base rental price, provides vacationers with reimbursement of their vacation costs (and subsequent rental costs) for any nights missed resulting from personal medical emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation expenses, such as a unforeseen hotel stay or additional gas.

Complete the Booking

When everything looks correct, it's finally time to sign on the dotted line. You'll probably be required to submit a security deposit at time of booking.

Keep Your Contact's Info

Make sure you get the manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We suggest saving the contact's information in your cell phone and wallet.

Congrats on booking your vacation rental! You're on your way to a fabulous vacation!

During your Stay

  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, create a record of any problem areas of the property. Contact the rental manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about liability later, having the documented problems and contact attempts could be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. When there is any ambiguity about parking, rules of the house, condo access, pool functions, etc... we recommend you ask the rental home manager immediately. A brief phone call eliminates many problems.
  • Please be considerate of the community. Permanent residents often times live within earshot. Remember the golden rule and treat others the same way you'd like to be treated by vacationers next to your home.
  • Ask a local. Natives can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great date night, or the best places for night life?
  • Make certain to protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental home secured when you are away, just like you would at home.

When its Time to Leave

  • Clean up a little bit. Even though you're having to pay a housekeeping fee, The vacation home should be in good condition. Kitchen sinks full of dirty dishes, excessive sand on the floors and sticky messes should really be remedied before leaving.
  • Once everything is out, do a walk-through of the rental home to be certain no damage occurred during your stay. We advise walking through with the rental manager wherever possible (often this isn't possible).. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have an enjoyable time? Virtually all rental property web sites ask for reviews after your stay is complete. Rental owners and property managers will appreciate your glowing critiques. If anything went wrong, we advise being understanding but genuine about your experience. The best property owners and managers will work very hard to correct the situation.

Iterate

Hold a debrief with the members of your group. Does everyone want to go back? If everything was wonderful, next year's vacation planning is going to be simple and easy. Maybe the rental wasn't perfect, and you'll better understand how to improve your search next time.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
