About this Property
"Sand Dollar Suites" suite 6 managed by Dale and Salt Water Real Estate may be just the home away from home you are looking for! "Sand Dollar Suites" are a collection of one- and two-bedroom comfortable condo's that are a walk from our sandy shores, a brief walk to downtown CB, and all the sea sights, sounds, and experiences you are looking for!
The space;
Pleasure Island (Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Fort Fisher) has become a RAPIDLY increasing holiday (and full-time!) destination for the East coast and beyond for many reasons. Because we are in fact a true island, our "max. capacity" and restricted parking options will always limit the number of visitors who can both rent on and visit our Island simultaneously! Although always relative, this provides a bit more elbow room and open space than average for those looking for more “distancing” and privacy than some bigger public beaches. It’s a family-aligned beach with a touch of everything one might be looking for! It’s an AMAZING place to visit, live, and never leave!
The suite is in the heart of Carolina Beach and walking distance to downtown and everything that is has to offer. In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, eateries, and local stores of all kinds. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or event boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing? Come with the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier compete with bait, tackles, and more! The Carolina Beach Lake is close by, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday, FIREWORKS every Thursday, and outdoor summer movies on Sunday’s (on a huge inflatable screen in the middle of the lake!). We welcome you to sit back, relax and appreciate yourselves because that's exactly what the beach is for! * (due to Covid, please be prepared for periodic deviations from our usually scheduled events).
These suites are a mixture of the original “period” construction and old-world magic, a kiss of shabby-chic modernity, and today’s technology because hey, there’s got to be something for everybody! Each suite has its own distinct traits, quirks, and characteristics. Above all else, it should feel like your “home away from home” while visiting with us on our Island!
The entry to this 1 bedroom, 1 bath suite opens into a freshly furbished family room combined with an open dining area and entirely supplied kitchen (stove oven, refrigerator). The kitchen is supplied will all the basic preparing and dining silverware one can expect (plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc.). In addition, there is a microwave, toaster, coffer maker and blender ready to help make yourself at home (while on Vacay!). Courtesy organic soap and shampoo are left in the bathroom of each suite as well as a (1) starter roll of TP, a (1) garbage bag, dish soap, and a sponge in each kitchen. *It is important to note that it is NOT an owner’s job to give personal family items for visitors. From toiletries and linens, to community food stuffs and condiments it is ESPECIALLY important during this current climate for any used items of another to be discarded before our new visitors arrive to ensure an optimally hygienic space
The unit's ONE QUEEN bed consists of either a plush extravagance bed or a new encased 8” memory foam/cooling gel composition bed because we want all of our visitors to be calming when it comes time to recharge. Remember, linens are NOT supplied to keep your costs low. You can bring them from home with you, buy them locally, or rent them (refer to Oceanside Linens & Units).
There is one intelligent TV in each suite to utilize one's personal subscriptions (such as Netflix or Hulu) along with a WIFI computer connection for when it's time to sit back and savor some movies or shows after a long day at the beach! Come with a Fire Stick, Apple TV, Laptop w/ HDMI cable or another such casting device if looking to ensure all the tech amenities from home are available during your stay!
We equip each suite with its own combination of books, games, and misc. accessories to help cover the basis for our visitors to enjoy themselves in rain or shine. Sometimes however, these items are removed from the suite and not replaced, and we do not always realize it (tsk tsk!). If you notice something we’ve bragged about missing please let us know!
The outdoor shower is located on the lower left of the building to help get that sand off of those toes!
Guest access;
The SUITE: Guests have full access to their own private SUITE (never shared) along with a portion of a respective outdoor space, patio, or balcony.
PARKING: Each guest will have access to (1) ONE 8'x14' assigned parking space. Suites 1-3 park up front next to the road while 4-6 park in the rear of the building. DO NOT double park if looking to avoid a tow. Guests driving "upsized cars" (from SUVs to pickups) may have issues fitting restfully. Any additional community parking spaces would have availability on a first come first serve basis. We do not recommend any local lot or proprietor.

Some of these examples are (but not limited to) a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. This doesn’t even include the aweing scenery of Airlie Gardens, and our very own battleship (USS NC) in Wilmington! Perhaps more appealing and less “experience” is your speed? Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered!

Money Saving Strategies
- Search for the official tourism bureau where you want to travel. Most tourism bureaus will send you printed tourism guide books with special offers for rental properties, restaurants and activities. Keep an eye out for these publications and coupon books, since this allows visitors to enjoy those great activities at a frequently significantly discounted.
- Wish to avoid the crowds of people? Off-peak rates are usually a fraction of high fees.
- Active Duty and veterans of the U.S. Armed forces may qualify for price reductions. Be sure to confirm with vacation rental company to see if your vacationing crew is eligible for a discounted rate.
- Is there a particular experience you are mainly anticipating ? Be sure to prioritize your proximity to the adventures and interesting attractions you are most interested in.
- Vacation rental companies and individual rental home owners generally offer customers the chance to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually add somewhere between 1% - 5% of the base term rate, offers travellers reimbursement of their vacation expenses for any nights missed due to personal health emergencies or hurricanes, in addition to ensuing extra hurricane evacuation costs or expenses, such as an unforeseen motel stay or extra gas.
How to Book a Rental Home
First-timers are likely to be shocked at the number and wide variety of weekly vacation rentals available in the Southport area. Rental home accommodations have gained in popularity with the rise of international search sites like Tripadvisor and VRBO.
Rental homes are often owner operated or managed by rental management companies. Vacation rental management companies leverage scale, staff and working experience to provide painless operational administration on behalf of the owner..
Seasoned Southport vacationers have figured out several tips and tricks throughout the years with regards to renting vacation homes, however most newcomers will be delighted to realize that several "tips" are in plain sight, if you know how to look.
Finding and booking the right vacation property:
Before you decide to book ""Sand Dollar Suites" suite 6", go through our brief collection of points to consider.
Search Early and Frequently
Southport rental properties book months (and up to a year) in advance. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is usually recommended, whenever possible. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years are excellent times to plan and book your rental..
Choose a Town and Date
Agreement can be difficult between loved ones, but as soon as this tricky part is finished everything will start to fall in place.
Choosing an Properly-Sized Rental
How many family members are joining your trip? Keep in mind that a lot of properties advertise maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in the living area. You will need to figure out what is suitable for your group. Generally vacation home listings will summarize each of the unit's specific bedrooms and mattress sizes.
What Are You Willing to Shell out?
Confirm that ""Sand Dollar Suites" suite 6" fits your budget *during your desired dates*. If a few individuals or family members are sharing the cost, ensure everyone knows their obligation and has agreed to a maximum they are willing to chip in. In most cases, just one person in the group will be liable for making the complete reservation and collecting each family member's contribution.
Make a List of "Wants" and "Needs"
What amenities is your group interested in? Is a screened-in porch a requirement? Will the unit need to be beachfront, in the downtown area, or in close proximity to restaurants? Does the property have bikes and beach toys available for use throughout your stay? Make a list of priority features to help narrow your search.
Accessability
Do some people in your crew have special needs? Make sure that you remember and ask about wheelchair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment requirements..
Fido Approved
Make sure you include your companion! Although a number of vacation homes allow animals, guidelines and fees vary per rental. Make certain to study descriptions and contracts carefully. Service fees may apply when pets are added.
Best places to Search
As soon as the area, dates and guests are decided, search multiple sources for the very best rental selection. In addition to Homeaway, VRBO and Tripadvisor, we suggest searching Google for "Southport local vacation rentals" for local vacation rental management companies. Local property management companies proudly offer a top-quality rental experience.
Negotiate
Re-read the description to be sure the vacation rental has everything required. If something is missing, the home management company may know of similar properties that better suit your desires and budget..
Some property owners will negotiate prices, and some will not. If the rate isn't negotiable, the number of nights might be. The off-season offers your best opportunity to negotiate a lower rate.
Read the Total Contract
You will want to know which services are included:
- Electric bills
- Internet Connectivity
- Long Distance Phone Service
- Pool and hot tub heating
- Cable and pay-per-view TV
- Cleaning Service
- Trash Pickup (and which day?)

Cancellation Policies
Make sure you are familiar with the cancellation policy prior to reserving. You'll likely be offered trip insurance. Trip insurance protects the renter against emergency situations and weather events, It gives you relief should catastrophe strike.
Book your Rental Home
When everything looks correct, it's finally time for you to sign on the dotted line. You'll probably have to submit a security deposit at time of booking.
Keep Your Property Manager's Information
Make sure to get the property manager's contact phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We suggest keeping the contact's details in your cell phone and wallet.
Congrats on reserving your vacation home! You're on the way to a fabulous vacation!
During your Stay
- Take pictures on your arrival. Record the condition of the rental home immediately upon arrival. We also suggest immediately getting in touch with the rental manager with a report of any wear and tear, together with your request for any needed fixes. If there is a disagreement about responsibility later, having the documented problems and communication attempts could be helpful.
- When there's any ambiguity about vehicle parking, rules of the property, condo access, pool operation, etc... we suggest you ask the property manager immediately. A quick phone call eliminates many complications.
- Remember to respect your neighbors. Natives should be as friendly to you as you are respectful of them. Respecting late-night quiet hours and vehicle parking rules can make a trip a little more relaxing.
- Ask a local. Local residences may point you in the right direction.
- Enjoy your stay! Make sure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the home locked up while you are away, exactly like you would at home.
Leaving Paradise
- Check to make sure you've packed all of your personal belongings. Sweep all the rooms in the home for left-behind items. Check bathrooms, the garage, kitchen cabinets, backyards, the swimming pool area, and anywhere else your personal property might "hide".
- Be sure to walk through the rental home one last time and look for property damage. Whenever possible, do this walk-out assessment with the property manager present. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a blast? Many rental property sites request testimonials after your stay is complete. Owners and property managers will appreciate your glowing recommendations. If anything went wrong, we recommend being understanding but straightforward in regards to your rental experience. The best owners and managers will work very hard to rectify the problem.
Learn and Improve
Did they love their stay? We hope this guide steered you to a great vacation rental. Maybe the rental property wasn't quite right, and you'll better recognize how to refine your search for the next vacation.
