Our top Southport vacation rental tips and tricks:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • To find the most suitable rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Southport restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • In the Southport area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. The Refuge in midtown ILM has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your group.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. text the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
