The Village Cafe & Deli is a unique little gem in the heart of Hampstead that’s found just off of US Highway 17 and, at first glance, looks like a residential home or business Visitors who find this little restaurant, however, will be pleasantly surprised with the warm and artful atmosphere, the array of fresh cuisine, and the big menu where unique takes on Cape Fear regional staples shine.
The menu is a nice complement to the slightly cool but cozy atmosphere, with a nice array of breakfast, lunch, and dinner items that take a little creative license with familiar southern staples. For an evening out, start with an appetizer of steamed mussels with a white wine garlic sauce, coconut shrimp, or shrimp bruschetta with a balsamic reduction, to garner an introduction to Village Café’s cuisine. While the burgers are sandwiches are worth a look, (with specialties like turkey and fresh mozzarella, or shrimp pita), the entrees arguably steal the show, and include Low Country creations like BBQ pork loin, herb grilled shrimp skewers, and fried popcorn shrimp. With a convenient but quiet locale, and a menu chock full of goodies, the Village Cafe & Deli is a nice find for Cape fear visitors cruising through the Hampstead area.
