Sam’s Hot Dog Stand isn’t technically a “stand,” but it has all the flavor of a favorite hot dog stand in NYC or big metropolis that’s well outside the port city. Priding itself on great prices and great dogs, visitors to this little hot dog shop will find plenty to appreciate about the humble hot dog.
Sam’s is located in a small shopping center along Oleander Drive, close to both the coast and the UNCW campus, which makes it a fairly easy lunch destination for visitors taking a cruise of the area. The hot dogs are all beef, American originals, (with the exception of the veggie dog on the menu), and can be easily topped with a nice selection of homemade and classic toppings, like the locally renowned chili sauce and cole slaw. There’s also an NC BBQ pulled pork sandwich on the menu, as well as chips, drinks, and hand-dipped milkshakes and floats. Patrons can dine in the clean restaurant, make a run through the drive-thru window, or on a sunny day, enjoy the outdoor seating which is naturally “dog” friendly. Tasty on the go for a quick, crowd-pleasing meal, Sam’s Hot Dog Stand is a good spot where hot dog lovers can get their grub on.
