Strategies to get the best Southport vacation property experience:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Southport area. To get the best value, shift your family's Southport vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the perfect rental home in the Southport area:

  • First, have your group decide on dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Brand New \/ Ocean Pearl (ready for \"Fun in the Sun\".) has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • If there's a particular Southport beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • At Check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
