About this Property

General summary;

“Life’s a Beach” Upper unit is a Pet Friendly upper duplex managed by Dale and Salt Water Real Estate and is the ideal beach location to bring the ENTIRE family, paws and ALL! This second floor two bed/one bath apartment is just two blocks from our sandy shores, a moderate walk to downtown CB, and all the sea sights, sounds, and experiences you are looking for!

The space;

Pleasure Island has become a RAPIDLY increasing holiday destination for the entirety of the East coast and beyond for many reasons. Because we are in fact a true island, “overcrowding” isn’t in of itself a colossal issue. Limited parking and available housing will always create a appealing “max capacity” that will always give a comfortable (and healthy) occupancy level and vibe that, despite the “hordes”, will always leave generous complimentary space for those looking for a bit more “distancing” and privacy. It’s also what is making the real unit market shoot through the roof! It’s an AMAZING place to visit, live, and never leave!

The suite is located in the heart of Carolina Beach and a moderate walking distance to downtown and everything that is has to offer. In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, eateries, and local stores of all kinds. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or event boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing? Come with the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier compete with bait, tackles, and more! The Carolina Beach Lake is close by, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday, FIREWORKS every Thursday, and outdoor summer movies on Sunday’s (on a huge inflatable screen in the middle of the lake!). We welcome you to sit back, relax and appreciate yourselves because that's exactly what the beach is for! * (due to Covid, please be prepared for periodic deviations from our usually scheduled events).

These suites are a mixture of the original “period” construction and old-world grace, a kiss of shabby-chic modernity, and today’s technology because hey, there’s got to be something for everybody! Each suite has its own distinct traits, quirks, and characteristics. Above all else, it should feel like your “home away from home” while visiting with us on our Island!

The entry to this 2 bedroom/1 bath suite opens up into a enormous, freshly decorated family room combined with an open dining area and kitchen. Courtesy organic soap and shampoo are left in the bathroom of each suite as well as a (1) starter roll of TP, a (1) garbage bag, dish soap, and a sponge in each kitchen. *It is important to note that it is NOT an owner’s job to give personal family items for visitors. From toiletries and linens, to community food stuffs and condiments, It is ESPECIALLY important during this current climate for any used items of another to be discarded before our new visitors arrive to ensure an optimally hygienic space

There's TWO QUEEN's and ONE TWIN + TWIN BUNK bed on site because we want all of our visitors to be inviting when it comes time to recharge (do bear in mind the happiness level of pullouts for long stays!). Remember, linens are NOT supplied in order to keep our prices low. You can bring them from home with you, buy them locally, or rent them (refer to Low Tide Linens & Units). If renting, please let Low Tide know that you are a guest of SWRE as they will give you with an additional 10% discount!

There is a TV (with approx. 25 channels through the Charter Spectrum cable service or application) along with a WIFI computer connection for when it's time to sit back and savor some movies or shows after a long day at the beach! Come with a Fire Stick, Apple TV, Laptop w/ HDMI cable or other such casting device if looking to ensure all of the tech amenities from home are available during your stay!

We equip each suite with its own books, games, and misc. accessories to help cover the basis for our visitors to enjoy themselves in rain or shine. Sometimes however, these items are removed from the suite and not replaced and we do not realize it (tsk tsk!). If you notice something we’ve bragged about missing please let us know!

Guest access;

The BACKYARD: The backyard is intended for both units to be able to congregate, BBQ, play, and have a blast. Please do NOT let your dogs and cats loose in the back. Feel complimentary to utilize the front yard, side yard, or any number of spectacular neighborhood walks to help your furry children relieve themselves.

The SUITE: Guests have full access to their own private SUITE along with a respective outdoor space, patio, or balcony. Each suite can vary slightly in archetype but what’s private for each guest or is a common area for all to share IS conveniently recognizable.

PARKING: Each guest will have access to (2) two parking spaces. The Lower unit should park side by side to the left of the drive. The upper unit should park one in front of the other IN the drive.

Neighborhood overview;

Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. Pleasure Island is located within Federal Point Township, in New Hanover County. The coastal resort towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as the annexed communities of Wilmington Beach and Hanby Beach are located on the island.

The building itself is two blocks away from the sea, across the street form the ICW, and roughly seven blocks from down town Carolina Beach with its stores, activities and dining. There are fireworks during the summer every Thursday nighttime, Movies at the lake each Sunday nighttime, and local fairs around the lake each Saturday morning. Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and visitors all looking to hideaway the inland and enjoy the sand, surf, and sun. We really have an striking community!

Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are (but not limited to) a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. Perhaps more calming and less “experience” is your speed? Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered!

Getting around;

There isn’t anywhere or anything on our Island that isn’t accessible with foot power. Downtown Carolina Beach has a number of vendors (such as Pleasure Island Units @ 2 N Lake Park Blvd Carolina Beach NC 28428 (golf carts) and Tony Silvagni’s Surf School @ 107 Charlotte ave Carolina Beach NC 28428 (bicycles, paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks) for rent as an alternative to walking or driving. Taxi’s (local golf cart taxi’s) and Uber’s are also generally available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island! You can catch a Ferry to Southport in Kure Beach @ 2422 Fort Fisher Blvd S Kure Beach which leads to another ferry to Bald Head Island where NO CARS are allowed at all!

After all, you won’t catch many locals going OTB! (Over The Bridge). Everything you need is right here!

Other things to note;

•Salt Water Real Estate has partnered with the absolute most great vendors our Island has to offer to help ensure visitors can spend more time savoring themselves and less time researching! Our partners include the Tony Silvagni Surf School for professional surf lessons, bicycle, umbrella, and chair units, Salty Dog Yoga, Squared Away Cleaning and Maintenance, TNL Kleans, and Low Tide Linen Units who provides all visitors of SWRE an added 10% off. Our partners support visitors of Salt Water Real Estate with the highest caliber of local services for extremely competitive and oft discounted pricing. They all contribute to the “Salt Water” experience and we <3 them for it!

•ALL suites are non-smoking (including vaping) and a heavy cleaning/repair charge can result if not adhered to. This includes porches, decks, balconies, and walkways. Please smoke well away from any SWRE unit unless willing to risk the potential loss of deposit or more.

• SWRE contractual peaceful hours begin at 9:00pm EST. Town ordinance may accept more latitude with regards to noise (11:00pm) but our expectations are to help ensure all visitors, locals, and neighbors alike have an delightful experience.

•NO BBQing on ANY decks or porches. This is a monumental fire hazard and is fineable by the town (as is removing batteries from any smoke or co2 alarms). We work extremely hard to keep all of our visitors safe, and sometimes that takes teamwork!

•There is a $100 non-returnable pet fee for one approved pup and a $50 pup fee for a second. There is a two-dog max. unless an exception is granted. Cats are not allowed on premises. If inquiring about a different pet request, please ask!

•April 1st through September 30th, dogs are allowed on the Carolina Beach during restricted hours of BEFORE 9:00 am and AFTER 5:00 pm. On the extreme North End of Carolina Beach, dogs are allowed on leash 24/7. In Kure Beach, dogs are NOT allowed at any juncture. Fort Fisher accepts dogs on leash on the beach 24/7. Please be responsible to follow all town pet ordinances and have an awareness as to which beach you are on at all times.

•Please always consider TRAVEL INSURANCE from your respective renting site or vendor to help protect your costs in case of inclement weather or last-min. travel complications (court, illness, etc.). These items are NOT returnable scenarios unless the unit itself is compromised. If that does happen, we will do our absolute most exemplary to find you alternative housing.

Money Saving Rental Tips

  • Many rental owners and vacation properties provide Southport area travel discount catalogs which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by merchants, or via a relationship between the management company and the itself. Search for these publications and promotional books, since this allows vacation goers to take advantage of those wonderful activities at a possibly significantly discounted.
  • Are you willing to alter your dates? The off-peak seasons frequently offer incredible rates on daily rentals.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the U.S. Armed forces may be able to get promotions. Be sure to check with property manager to see if your visiting gang qualifies for a reduced price.
  • Some homes are primarily suited for specific groups of vacationers. Large event homes are ideal for weddings, wedding parties and corporate retreats. Some properties cater to beach bums. Other homes are positioned close to nightlife. You will definitely get the best value from a home that most closely matches your ideal vacation setting, even if it costs a tad bit more.
  • Vacation rental companies and individual rental owners frequently offer clients the opportunity to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally add somewhere between 1% - 5% of the base term cost, provides travellers reimbursement of their travel expenses for any missed as a result of medical emergencies or weather, in addition to ensuing extra hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unplanned motel stay or extra gas. Trip insurance can be a bank account-saver if the unforseen occurs (heaven forbid!).

How to Book a Vacation Home

You may be pleasantly surprised to uncover how many rental properties are available at your destination. With such a wide selection, guests are sure to come across a rental home that fits their desires and price range.

Vacation homes are often owner operated or managed by property management companies. Owners typically choose management companies to manage advertising, cleaning and maintenance tasks.

We have constructed a brief guide to assist you in getting most from your rental property experience.

Finding and booking the best rental:

Before you start to book "“Life’s a Beach” Pet Friendly upper unit duplex", review our short list of factors to consider.

The Earlier, The Better

Southport vacation rentals start booking very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended, when possible. A lot of groups plan to start their search over Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year gatherings.

Decide on a Town and Date

Consensus can be tough among family, but once this tricky part is finished everything will quickly drop in place.

Just How Many Bedrooms?

How many family members are planning to share your vacation? Consider that a lot of homes advertise maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in the living room space. You will need to determine what is suitable for your family. Specific descriptions of bedrooms and beds are usually available on the internet. If not, speak to the property manager before you book.

Stay on a Budget

Make sure "“Life’s a Beach” Pet Friendly upper unit duplex" suits your budget *during your desired week*. Make certain to get cost-sharing commitments from family and friends well before reserving a costly rental home. Generally speaking, a single member of the group will be in charge of making the whole reservation and collecting each party's share.

Its All About Amenities

What amenities is your group searching for? Is a screened-in porch a necessity? Are you more interested in a natural landscape or amusements? Are bed linens included with the rental agreement, or will you need to provide your own? Gather a list of "necessities and desires" from your group to help narrow your search to the most appropriate rental.

Accessibility and Special Issues

Do members of your crew have specialized needs? Ensure that you remember and ask about wheel chair access, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs..

Take the Dog

Make sure to include your furrry friends. Pet guidelines are different at each rental. Read descriptions carefully. Type of pet, size and breeds may be controlled. Read your agreement very carefully! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your contract. When in doubt, ask the property manager and get it in writing.

Start the Search

Several websites exist to match guests with property owners.. Together with Homeaway, VRBO and Tripadvisor, we advise searching Google for "Southport local rental properties" for local property management companies. Local rental home management companies proudly offer a superior vacation experience.

Negotiate

When you have spotted your dream rental, make sure your trip dates are available.

Although not true for all properties, many rental owners and property managers will make a deal on rates. If they are unwilling to budge on a peak-season week, try getting an extra night. Negotiating rates is more effective throughout the off-peak season when many homes sit empty.

Read the Contract

Read the whole agreement and be sure you fully understand who is liable for:

  • Utilities
  • WIFI Access
  • Long Distance Phone Service
  • Pool Heating
  • Pay Per View Movies
  • Cleaning Service
  • Trash Pickup (and which day?)
  • Maintenance policies
  • Check in & Check Out Key Exchange
  • Parking Fees

Make sure your quote includes all taxes and fees.

Cancellations Happen

Ensure you understand the cancellation policy prior to reserving. You'll probably be offered trip insurance. Trip insurance, which ordinarily costs ranges from 1% - 5% of the standard rental home rate, can provide guests with reimbursement of their vacation costs (and subsequent rental costs) for any days missed as a consequence of personal health related emergencies or storms, as well as hurricane evacuation expenses, such as a unforeseen motel stay or additional gas.

Complete the Booking

When you think you've found "the one", start the booking process. You will likely be asked to submit a security deposit at time of booking.

Get Contact Details

Be sure you get the property manager's contact telephone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We suggest saving the contact's details in your cell phone and wallet.

Congrats on reserving your vacation home! You're on your way to a fabulous vacation!

During your Stay

  • Take pictures at your arrival. Take notes of any damages when you arrive. If you discover wear and tear, or if fixes are needed call the home manager without delay. If there is a disagreement about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and communication attempts will probably be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You might need guidance for a gas fireplace, Television or spa tub. Call your home manager. They are there to assist. A brief phone call eliminates many complications.
  • Make sure to be a good next-door neighbor. Permanent residents more often than not live within earshot. Remember the golden rule and treat others the same way you'd like to be treated by vacationers next to your primary residence.
  • Ask a local. Residents can often point you in the right direction.
  • Enjoy your stay! Remember to protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the vacation rental locked up when you are away, exactly like you would at home.

Check Out Time

  • Tidy up a little bit. Regardless of whether you're spending money on a house cleaning fee, The vacation home really should be in sound condition. Kitchen sinks stuffed with dirty dishes, excessive sand on the flooring and sticky messes should really be taken care of before leaving.
  • Once everything is out, perform a walk-through of the rental home to be certain no property damage occurred during your remain. We suggest walking through with the rental manager whenever possible (this isn't always the case).. If the property owner is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have an enjoyable time? Most vacation rental management companies and vacation rental websites permit travellers to offer comments. If the rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will appreciate your recommendations. If anything went wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental was not as described, you will want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Use Your Experience

Hold a meeting with your family. Does everyone want to return next year? We hope this guide helped you find a terrific rental home. If the rental property wasn't ideal, and you will better recognize how to filter your search next time.

Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests.In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
