The Resort is 2,000 acres and sports three, top-rated golf courses and a forth adjacent to the resort (Oyster Bay). Golf is all-year round, and the beach and pool season runs from April until the end of October.

This barrier island beach is a breathtakingly beautiful, unspoiled community with no buildings taller than three stories. You can savor the tranquility of Sunset Beach and, when the mood strikes, discover all the various activities and nighttime life of Myrtle Beach just 15 miles down the road. Interestingly, because the Island actually orients east-west, you are spoiled by charming sunsets on the beach. (Hence the name.)

  • Summer is the most expensive season in Sunset Beach. To get the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
