The kitchen has modern amenities and all of the standard kitchen equipment one may need to host their family including drip coffee maker, toaster, blender, all the cooking and baking essentials, 16 qt stock pot, dishware & flatware, dishwasher, and refrigerator/freezer with ice maker Due to the airy and roomy open floor plan of the main living area, the prepare of the family is sure not to be left out of the fun.

The bunk room offers two twin over full bunk beds great for the kids. The other cavernous guest room offers a queen bed and sizable closet. Both guest rooms have painless access to the shared full bathroom with tub. The entrance to the huge screened-in porch overlooking the big fenced in yard is just off the kitchen and main living area. Outside you will find patio seating, a picnic table for outdoor dining and charcoal kettle grille. The front and back yard are generously landscaped with delightful old live oak trees.

All bed linens and guest towels are supplied. Linens includes fitted sheets, flat sheets, and pillowcases that will be newly laundered and placed in a bundle on each bed and lightweight comforters or quilts. Since we are not overly strict regarding dogs on the furnishings and beds, blankets are not supplied so guests are requested to provide their own pet blankets to cover couches and beds. Parking is also complimentary and available near the many beach accesses on the island. Getting the best Oak Island vacation property experience:

Getting the best value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Southport area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for local accommodations and attractions.

How to choose and book a perfectrental home:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Great Family Get-Away, Walk to Beach & Restaurants, Big Fenced Yard has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

During your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
