Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and picking the right Southport rental home:

  • Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need.  \"It's Glorious\" - 2nd Row Home w\/ Pool, 3 Bedrooms \/ 3 Bathrooms has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a specific Southport attraction you are enamored with, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.

More considerations:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
  • Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
