Tips to get the very best Southport rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area travel guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the best vacation rental:

  • To start, have your group choose a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Luxury Condo w Ocean View 2 Blocks from Boardwalk has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If not, contact the host before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
