Our top Oak Island vacation rental booking tips:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • In the Southport area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • To find the most suitable rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Southport attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, property management companies supply Southport area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the best vacation home:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Pet Friendly Home - On the Marsh - Short Walk to Beach has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
