(5BR,4B,SL10, 2K/1Q/5Tw, 2 Golf Carts, Sunday Turn in Peak Season, CHECK OUT 10:30AM / CHECK IN 4:30PM) Salty Dog exudes casual beach vibes and delights with awe-inspiring ocean vistas.

This traditional five-bedroom, four-bath home beckons you to relax on its covered rocking chair front porch and breathe in salty breezes or nap in the swaying hammock. Inside you'll find open living spaces boasting hardwoods and loads of light from the skylights above the two-story ceiling. The comfortable gathering area, anchored by a decorative fireplace, is just across from the dining space. Savor your meals-with-a-water-view or step out onto the attached screen porch for a snack or coffee. The adjacent kitchen has a handsome wooden breakfast bar that seats four, loads of granite counter space and stainless appliances. It is backed by a cavernous pantry/laundry room. If alfresco dining is your enjoyment, scoot out the home's French doors onto the covered porch and step down to an oversize dining deck-the ideal spot to appreciate a good meal AND Mother Nature.

This level also homes an ocean-view Queen with private front porch access and a bunk room with three twins. These share a granite-tiled bath with a glassed bench shower.

Upstairs-in another bright, airy space accented by skylights-is a sitting area with a daybed. Unwind here or just outside on the sundeck and soak up rays as well as the breathtaking seascape. This floor features two King Owner suites. The first showcases ocean vistas and provides private deck access, a vaulted ceiling, a sizable walk-in closet and a handsome ensuite. The second also offers private ocean deck access along with a sitting area, constructed-ins, a walk-in closet and a generous ensuite. Above the two-cart garage is the crofter. This very private space provides yet another suite with two Twins, sitting area and full bath.

Additional amenities include use of two golf carts, an outdoor shower and a central location convenient to the clubs, stores and the Conservancy and WWP's 24/7 Property Manager Assistance Line-which means you can reach needed help even after hours or on weekends. For a tail-wagging beach vacation, reserve your spot now at Salty Dog.

Strategies to get the very best vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • To get the best value, change your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing and booking your prefect Southport vacation home:

  • Start by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Salty Dog exudes relaxed beach vibes and delights with awesome ocean vistas. has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your trip.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
