Our top Rental home booking tips:

Sticking to your budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in Bald Head Island. Booking your Southport vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by selecting vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Gorgeous ocean views - Both clubs available - 3 carts! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
