Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Southport attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking the perfect Southport vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Small cottage with big character and exceptional ocean views has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
