Tips to get the optimal vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Southport area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

How to select the best rental:

  • Start by choosing your a vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Wrightsville Ave Retreat-renovated 3BR & pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is optimal for your family.
  • If there's a specific Southport beach you long to visit, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
