Strategies to get the very best vacation rental experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • In the Southport area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to select the best rental home:

  • Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Wrightsville Dunes B-1C - Ocean front first floor condo with a pool has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

More considerations:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
