Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Finding the best value:

  • Book your Southport rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Southport area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the perfect rental home in Sunset Beach:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 320 Down the Shore by Sunset Vacations has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
