Our top Southport rental booking tips and tricks:

When to reserve a Southport rental home & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the largest rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the perfect vacation rental:

  • Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. A Wave From It All: Island Home with Private Saltwater Pool, Fenced Yard, Fish C has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your group.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Have a great stay:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
