How to get the best rental experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Wilmington. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Southport trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting the best vacation home in the Southport area:

  • First, have your family select vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Casa Blue at Myrtle Grove, 10 minutes to Carolina Beach! 4 Beds, 1 Bath Sleeps 6 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during arrival. message the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
