When to visit Oak Island & When to book:

  • Summer is high season in the Southport area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Southport area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses.
