Southport vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

When to visit Oak Island & When to reserve a Southport rental home:

  • To find the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Southport area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Finding the best vacation home in the Southport area:

  • Select vacation dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Fountain's Folly: Coastal Retreat with Floating Pier and Crab Dock on Waterway has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a particular Southport destination you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. message the host right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
