Harmony Cottage is a four bedroom, 4.5 bath oceanside sanctuary centrally located on Bald Head Island. From its shaded rocking-chair porch, you enter this handsome getaway and are immediately drawn to its back wall of glass showcasing unobstructed panoramas of the Atlantic (sweeping all the way to Frying Pan Shoals). Inside, the open floor plan takes advantage of not only the scenery, but also the warm, natural light. The comfortable living area is anchored by a decorative fireplace and offers games, books and a sizable flat screen TV. Appreciate the vistas from here or step through to the covered beachfront back porch and linger while you relish the sunshine and watch the dolphins play. Step down to your private boardwalk and take the very short journey to the sand.
Back inside, the well-appointed dining space's unique chandeliers and oyster candlesticks are but two of the tasteful decorator touches you'll appreciate. You can have your meals at the dining area's table for ten or munch alfresco on the adjacent waterfront screened porch. The cheerful kitchen features a breakfast bar, stainless appliances, granite counters, a pantry and is convenient to the laundry room and a half bath.
This floor also homes the generous King Master with its own beach perspectives, private access to the ocean porch, two closets and a pampering bath with a huge tiled shower, dual vanities, a water closet and a sunken tub.
Upstairs, you're greeted by another bright gathering space with a cove ceiling. It's ideal for cozy conversations, late-nighttime movie watching, peaceful reading or even a nap! This level is also home to three more suites. The first is a bunk room with twin bunk beds and a separate twin with a twin trundle. It affords water scenes, tons of constructed-ins and its own private bath. The second is a sunny Queen suite delighting with shining seascapes through its Palladian window and provides a full bath which also has hall access. The third suite is very cavernous and also proffers a Queen with calming ocean tableaus and a private full bath. All bedrooms are equipped with cooling ceiling fans.
Featuring brand-new raw pecan hardwoods throughout and located just mins. from stores, clubs and the Conservancy, a stay at Harmony Cottage includes the use of two golf carts, a hammock, a gas grille, beach towels and includes WWP's our 24/7 Property Manager Assistance Line-which means you can reach needed help even after hours or on weekends. Our top Bald Head Island rental property booking tips:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Summertime is high season in the Southport area. To get the best value, consider changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.

How to choose and book a perfectrental:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Harmony Cottage is a 4 BR/ 4.5 BA Oceanfront Retreat! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • If there's an individual Southport beach you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

Tips to have a terrific stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
