Tips and Tricks to get the best Southport vacation rental experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • In the Southport area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Booking your Southport vacation rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental home:

  • First, have your family agree to dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Mountains to Sea: Bring Your Boat to this Rustic Coastal Retreat! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
