The Appreciate Shack is a quintessential beach bungalow oozing with appeal, character and knotty pine. During your stay, you can soak up the ocean vistas from the comfortable living room and kitchen or take less than 30 steps to walk across the street to the beach access!

This retro-style kitchen will make you feel like you're in your very own diner. Put on some disco and dance as you make something to snack on, and savor it at the bar overlooking the water through the enormous open window. The living room provides plenty of cozy seating so you can sit back, relax and watch a movie on the flat-screen T.V., or watch the film of nature by looking at the waves outside.

The Adore Shack is ideal for the whole family with a king, a queen, two twin beds and a pack-and-play (all refreshed in 2024). Two fur babies (dogs only) are welcome to stay and will be met with their own collapsible food/water bowls that you can bring with you to the beach (or Deer Island - only one block away) to play!

The Adore Shack holds a piece of Oak Island history as one of the only Hurricane Hazel (1954) homes left on the island. The Appreciate Shack is waiting for you to add your memories - book today to have a chance to stay at this funky piece of heaven!

Tips and Tricks to get the very best Southport rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • To find the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning and choosing the perfectvacation home:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Love Shack: Charming Oceanview Cottage on East Beach has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a specific Southport beach you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.

Have a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
