Our top Southport vacation rental booking tips:

Getting the best rental value:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning and picking the best Southport rental:

  • Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. The Sandcastle: Upscale Large Oceanfront Home with Private Pool and Elevator has 11 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
