Our top Vacation rental home tips:

When to visit Holden Beach & When to reserve a Southport rental home:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Southport area. Book your rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Selecting and booking the rightrental:

  • Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. The \"Sandlapper\" is an oceanfront home with two living areas and handicap ramps. has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the host before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Tips to have a terrific stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
