Booking the best Oak Island vacation rental experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Oak Island. Reserve your rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • In the Southport area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Southport area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to pick the perfect vacation home in Oak Island:

  • Select your dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 1 Particular Harbor- Charming Rustic Cottage for the Perfect Island Getaway has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
