Strategies for getting the perfect Holden Beach vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Reserve your vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area travel guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose the best rental in the Southport area:

  • Begin by selecting vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. 334 By The Shore, Holden Beach, Private Pool & Spa, Ocean Views, Beach access across the street has 4 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If there's an individual Southport destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your contract.

Know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
