Tips and Tricks to get the very best Southport rental home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Oak Island rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Book your Southport rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Southport area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Southport area travel guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. A Beach Music Paradise: Dog-friendly Island Home with Ocean Views and Easy Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
