Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Southport vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Southport area. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning and picking your prefectrental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. How Sweet The Sound - Great Dune Home in Quiet Neighborhood. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • If there's a certain Southport beach you love, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
