Tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Southport area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Finding the perfect rental in the Southport area:

  • Choose your vacation week and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Art Deco Wrightsville Beach Island Condo Sleeps 1-4 Adults 1.5 Bathrooms has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
